A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

I think we're all wondering: can you tell us how one becomes somebody who sells printer ink so the rest of us and be rich as well?

[–]Numbsphynx[S] 2 points3 points ago

I run a Cartridge World franchise.

[–]radiowar 1 point2 points ago

I used to work at an Office Max which had a CW like 3 stores down in the same strip. I eventually moved to the copy center, and this was before Office Max installed their own refill stations, but I often sent people who complained about ink prices to you guys instead (I wasn't great at sales). The one concern I have about refills is the failure rate. Granted, I only heard about the problems, but our own re-branded, refilled ink was constantly returned for being defective. Toner refills never got returned it seemed. Just curious, a lot of really tech-savvy people don't know how badly they're getting ripped off in printing/ink costs.

That's cool. I just had to do a quick Google seach, since I've never heard too much about Cartridge World before. Here's a PC World article on the company, for those curious:

Just a relatively interesting point (perhaps you, reader, should open up your own CW franchise?):

According to Sharon Kinkade, director of marketing for Cartridge World North America, store franchisees can set their own pricing. So you may pay more or less at a Cartridge World in your area than I did at mine in Los Angeles, and your store's price may be lower--or higher--than the price you'll find on the Web.

Article's conclusion:

Cartridge World ink saved me a few bucks over HP's own inks. InkTec's do-it-yourself refill remains the cheapest I've tried by far. For less-adventurous penny pinchers, Costco's refill service is a great deal at 11 cents per page--assuming that you find its mediocre output quality acceptable for your needs.

so the rest of us can hate our lives as well?

[–]BRexplainshisbrain -2 points-1 points ago*

Yes, is it as simple as pointing out that people use ink a lot? Are your sales calls as easy as pointing out how many college kids print out stupid shit from the internet? As in: "Sir, I would ask you at your earliest convenience to visit a college dorm. Once there, please view the various print-outs of heavily ink-laded images adorning their suites and common areas. Ask yourself, can I make money off of this? The answer is yes, you can." I COULD DO THAT, AND I NEED A JOB, PLEASE HELP. EDIT: Ok, I get it, not interested in the college-meme angle, how about a full-scale print-out of the Mariana Trench? We convince a Marine Biology dept that they need it to bring in students (not like they've realized that they have enough yet, worth a shot), just a bunch of black ink and a ton o' dolla.

YOU SIT ON A THRONE OF LIES

[–]eagleeye64000 2 points3 points ago

THANKS TO YOU I CAN'T PRINT A BLACK AND WHITE PAPER BECAUSE MY INK IS OUT OF CYAN.

[–]toejam10 1 point2 points ago

The person who sells printer ink dictates how your printer runs?

[–]eagleeye64000 0 points1 point ago

When said ink container is produced with a lack of said specific colour in the first place for a printer that will only run with all colours at full, yes.

[–]radiowar 0 points1 point ago

This is often a driver/settings issue (changing to gray scale will often fix this). Brother is guilty of this still though I believe, although it's been a while since I sold printers.

[–]psi0nicgh0St 1 point2 points ago

You have no soul!

[–]DoctorThunder 0 points1 point ago

Guy who sells printer ink and refills ink cartridges as well. That must explain the influx of printer cartridge sales.

[–]the_dayman 0 points1 point ago

I have no idea why, but this is the most genuinely funny thing I have seen on reddit in a week.

"It's a new font, I call it: White on Black!"

Is that Bob Saget? It looks like a blonde Saget.
