My neighbour's dog had this tactic; Dig a small hole, shit in it, cover it with a layer of dirt and pee on it. Never dig the same hole twice. Their whole god damn yard had this grass on it that grew no matter what the dog did, so walking out there, occasionally your foot would sink three inches into the ground. GAME OVER, MAN, GAME OVER.

As a dog owner in the city, I absolutely despise the fact that I have to play this game on public lawns. It should be the responsibility to pick up your dog's shit no matter where it shits and despite whether you "want to" or not. I pick up my dog's shit, why should I have to pick up yours.

Note: not necessarily a dig at OP like everyone else here but seriously my parent's have a house in the burbs and pick up the dogs' shit maybe once every 2 months and really only if a special occasion is happening later. It's annoying as fuck tbh.

As a dog owner, this is only true at night time, in your light's blind spot, when looking down does not help.

Edit: for those who have their complaints, this is probably not the best time to bring up any memories of inconsiderate ass holes, who don't clean up after their pets. It is in fact, very annoying. However, even one dog turd that wasn't there the last time you went out in your backyard. I refuse to go through the trouble of teaching my dogs to inform me that they pooped, or put a light up sign in my living room that flashes and makes a stadium noise to inform me that another processed "bile pile" has spawned. My best recommendation for these types of people, is to collect their dog's, or your own dog's feces and throw it at their walls.

You know, we make our dogs go to the washroom in the alley. It's my backyard, not the dog's. No back alley? We *also have a corner in the yard, surrounded by hedges, with rocks. The hedges not only cover up the smell, that it's on the rocks makes it much easier, and doesn't burn out the grass.

Letting your dog go anywhere it wants in the yard is irresponsible dog ownership, IMO. You're the master, not them.

I have a big field beside my house, and when we first got our dog I immediately began taking him over there to pee and shit. He's a year old now and has never done either on our lawn. Runs right over there and pees, comes running back. THE best thing I have ever taught a dog. :)

what the fuck? as a dog owner whose dog is now almost 10, I've not picked up his shit on ONE occasion, because I'd run out of bags out at the waters edge on the beach after the dog had already crapped twice in the previous 45 minutes. Don't worry it was a beach in the UK in winter so no one was exactly about to go swimming in it.
