8 million Redditors have seen that particular ad in this particular thread? Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

You're complaining about Redditors finding a video enjoyable and sharing it with others. You are demanding that people refrain from sharing links that they find interesting and enjoyable with others. That seems to be totally against what Reddit is all about.

You can vote down something you do not like. You can even complain about it in a thread that far fewer than 8 million people will read, despite your assertion. You might even try to file lawsuits against the companies who are submitting the videos or file lawsuits against the people who are upvoting the links against your personal wishes.

You could even try to get laws passed that would prevent people from telling others what products they feel are better than others, or prevent companies from letting customers know about new products they have developed. Make such speech a criminal activity.

Or you can create a webpage/rage comic/infographic/video that explains your beliefs and why you think it is wrong, and submit it to Reddit (one of the default groups if you want to potentially expose it to over 8 million visitors) and see how many other Redditors agree that your submission is front-page worthy and upvote it.

Who knows, that just might start some massive anti-advertising movement on Reddit that would eliminate all advertising for all products in all media.

But I doubt it. Advertisements go viral because they entertain. And people like to be entertained. And they share things that they enjoy and like.

Instead of trying to convince people one by one to stop sharing things that entertain them, why not create something even more entertaining and thus crowd out the things that are not pleasing to you? If you can create something even more entertaining, go for it. If I enjoy it, I'd be more than happy to upvote it on Reddit and share it with my friends on Facebook and Google+.
