This is what I try my dad every time we have a discussion about such things and it blows my mind how can't see it that way.

I love Adam Savage, but what (perhaps totally incorrectly, I failed Biology) makes me wince a little is that he includes Genome as a 'construct'. As something that is the product of evolution, is this one of those finnicky things where to use the term 'construct' is just flat out inappropriate? i.e. implying a creator (If not ironic as the message is atheistic).

Hate to break it to you, but you missed the point. It is just a more poetic way of saying what was being said. Also, you are implying that the inverse square law of gravitation, fractals, and Relativity are constructs because you left them out in the above post.

That was kinda my point; I figure the Genome is a term for the genetic information that exists as a physical entity (genes, chromosomes) that exist because of a process with no 'creator'. Conversely, the inverse square law of gravitation, fractals, and Relativity are theories - or accepted as knowledge in lieu of a more fitting theory - that has been created by humans to describe (or model) physical phenomena. In our current scientific and mathematical paradigms they may be considered truth, but if we come to a deeper or more insightful understanding of physical phenomena by research and new evidence, they may be subject to change.

tl;dr - theories and knowledge share the same domain: constructs; a biological entity is not.
