Well..first of all.

• There should be no 'argument', they are pieces of software that run on our phones... people shouldn't get so militant about it.

• I'm not actually sure why you brought up the whole iOS vs Android debate in reply to a simple post saying that Adobe killed flash. Seemed like you were just trying to stir up arguments.

But I'll give my $0.02 anyway.

I disagree. There are obviously a few things that Android does that iOS doesn't. Custom launchers, widgets, skins etc... but to me none of that seems overly useful. How much time do you spend looking at a launcher? How useful really are widgets? I would never use them. It takes 1 click to open my email/twitter/whatever app and then read everything in a non-shortform UI.

And If I really did want quick info, my recent/unread info is in my notification tray/lockscreen.

I believe that iOS is ahead in the places that matter. App support, gaming support, ecosystem of tying everything together with iCloud, Airplay, 3rd party peripherals (millions of docks etc...)

...and most importantly in consistant and reliable user experience and support. ICS is currently on 1% of Android devices, it's been out since October, so 99% of people can't use the new flagship features and improvements, many devices that are still well in contract are confirmed to get no updates (Nexus S etc...) then when the updates come they have annoying processor-using skins etc... Whereas everyone with a 3GS or above (3GS was released in June 2009) could download iOS5 (and still get updates) day 1 of its release and use the new features.

Then there are apps and games that only run of certain devices (there are even games that only run on a Tegra processor...who wants to deal with what processor they have to play games?

As overused it is as an argument, I feel that the fragmentation of Android just is a big issue...

People often talk about being able to install custom versions like Cyanogen but 99% of people will never ever want to do that. And if you're including 'hackish' type things like that then people should also include the possibilities that jailbreaking an iOS device opens up.

Android has some great things to it that I wish iOS did/had (mainly in hardware...bigger screen please), but overall I believe iOS is a superior experience and a better investment of money/2years of your life (not that I personally go on contract, I buy off contract.)

The hardware that is in the iPhone is nice, for a few months. Then Android (Motorola, LG, Sony, Samsung, HTC, etc...) phones push out CPUs and GPUs that run circles around Apple's A5

I have 2 issues with this.

1. That hardware is what matters. The fact that the A5 in the 4S is clocked between 800mhz and 1Ghz (it switches when needed) and yet the device still outperforms or matches all high end Android devices clocked at 1.4Ghz etc.. (in that it runs things like GTA3, RageHD, Infinity Blade and it is constantly said in reviews that the general UI 'smoothness' is better in iOS) goes to show that with optimisation between hardware and software can get a fantastic experience out of less.

The reason Android devices are coming out with these massively clocked processors is because the OS isn't optimised and so it needs more 'kick' to get power out of it. Can you imagine any Android device that has a single core and was released back when the iPhone 4 (not 4S) was released running GTA3? They aren't supported (Only 7 devices are on Android) whereas the 4 runs it just great (the 4S even better of course.)

1. Hardware will obviously always be outdone by hardware released later, that is just the simple nature of it being released later. If an A5 is released in October and then a newer processor is released in April, it will obviously be better. Then an A6 comes out in October which is better again, and that is then beaten early the next year... that's just an obvious cycle. But as of right now, no phone has a GPU that bests the one in the iPhone 4S, the GS3 wil likely be the device to do that...though like I say, specs don't matter as much as many people seem to believe.

Sorry for the wall of text, it's just nice to have an actual discussion about it without people getting angry and fanboyish (on both sides.) It makes it hard to have actual discussion.
