Aww this made me smile. That must have been an incredible experience for him. Well... That would be an incredible experience for anyone. But still!

Models everywhere are jelly.

So, I'll be the asshole and ask... Could he feel the sensation?
[–]IncidentalyAmbiguous 1 point2 points3 points 8 months ago
Stephen Hawking has ALS (wikipedia). ALS makes people weak, often until they are unable to breathe. I don't think it affects their ability to feel. I think I remember hearing that it made people feel very very heavy - so being weightless might offer some relief.

He still feels parts of his body, doesn't he?

Wouldn't a lot of the sensation from this be mental and visual? Obviously there would be some amount of sensation that he would miss, but I would guess that there are other elements that would be the same.

Balance and acceleration is felt in the inner ear, so probably (I'm not totally sure though).

I wouldn't take it personally. The newest of those is 4 months ago, which is practically forever. Personally, I'm glad you posted it! I've never seen it before. He looks ecstatic.

the newest one is 11 hours old. But I agree with the rest.

Ooops. Haha. Apparently I can't read.

Would he have a more comfortable life if he was sent to the ISS? Without the restraints of gravity.
