I rarely visit /r/gifs directly, and instead just see the most popular that bubble up to the fp, and I only check my fp a few times a day and when that happens, there's usually only 3-5 submissions that I visit each time. In short, the odds of me having seen this before are quite small even though I visit reddit daily and have for years.

While I understand your frustration, please also understand, that there are those of us who do not see every single submission that comes across this subreddit. This is a basic nuance of reddit, and it has nothing to do with one's exposure to the internet.

Now, I'm not saying that everything should be reposted ad nauseum, but it does little to get upset over these things because regardless of what anyone does, they're still going to occur. I would even hazard a bet that if I tried hard enough, I could find a repost somewhere in your submission history, but it really doesn't matter to me that much.

Imagine how fun the world would be if every joke and funny story was only ever allowed to be told once.
