Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:
[text here](/spoiler)

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), weight loss photos, posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. Weight loss photos go in /r/loseit, DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

[–]Zarzaglub 29 points30 points ago*

I saw people in comments saying this is Angel Falls. It is not. Angel Falls is not U-shaped like that, and is way higher. This one is actually a neighbor falls, probably coming from the same tepuy (tabular mountain in Venezuela).

They actually explain it in the text. The ultimate goal was to shoot Angel Falls, but they used the helicopter trip to shoot several falls around when the weather was not cooperating.

"Then I decided to shoot at least the neighboring waterfalls. We flew around very beautiful waterfall with a scary name Dragon which is 300 meters high and then directed to the Salto Cortina with two cascades of 200 meters high each one. And from that place I saw that the cloud was leaving the Angel's top. We fast returned."

Anyway, the place and the shot are amazingly beautiful.

[Edit] for those interested, check this thread (and another magnificent image with plenty of waterfalls : http://i.imgur.com/ztLNK.jpg ) on Reddit with a guy who climbed Mount Roraima : http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/o6puh/mount_roraima_venezuela/

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 16 points17 points ago

You are correct. The team did manage to shoot Angel Falls in the end though. And the results were equally stunning.

[–]vxx 3 points4 points ago

Thank you. The picture you posted is very impressing. I like the colors and everything around. I like to go to Venezuela one time. Just for the Nature.

[–]itouchboobs 3 points4 points ago

I really want to base jump off that cliff.

[–]LarryTheSatelliteGuy 2 points3 points ago

first thing I thought of. That would be life changing

[–]annoying_guy_w_guns 2 points3 points ago

Oddly, I read that as Vuvuzela, which would be delightful to have in this particular place.

[–]bloed 0 points1 point ago

So is this place actually called "Dragon Falls"?

[–]Doc_Venture 3 points4 points ago

The first thing I thought was "I can swim back up that." Oh minecraft...

[–]spasewalkr 1 point2 points ago

Does anyone know how this picture was taken? Because the picture doesn't appear to have been taken standing on the edge, but from over it. Helicopter, maybe?

[–]Algee 2 points3 points ago

Pogo stick.

[–]chaiwala 0 points1 point ago

Must have dropped the camera as the picture snapped.

[–]fellownord 0 points1 point ago

Corporate secret.

[–]TheBrainofBrian 75 points76 points ago

I can't wait for the next series, Dragon Falls Z

[–]celestialwolf 10 points11 points ago

The water powers up for 5 episodes before going over the side.

[–]wastergoleor 4 points5 points ago

I honestly thought this would be at the top.

[–]TheBrainofBrian 1 point2 points ago

I honestly think it should be.

[–]foomachoo 1 point2 points ago

Look at your upvote counts!!! it's .... 9000!!!!

[–]TheBrainofBrian 1 point2 points ago

Nappa: What's his upvote count, Vegeta?
Vegeta: It's well under NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!

[–]Shitty_Watercolour 220 points221 points ago

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 43 points44 points ago

I feel honoured.

[–]alamandrax 79 points80 points ago

Hey! You're getting worse!

[–]Anomander 18 points19 points ago

Or (s)he's keeping it intentionally terrible, after the large number of replies (s)he was getting complaining his paintings weren't shitty enough to live up to the name.

For a while there (s)he was getting better at a reasonable and expected rate relating to how much practice they were doing.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago*

after the large number of replies (s)he was getting complaining his paintings weren't shitty enough

You missed a pronoun in there. I bet (s)he will be offended that you used the wrong pronoun to describe him/her.

[–]alamandrax 0 points1 point ago

I remember seeing a very hairy left arm pointing to some of the paintings he had done. Or I was seeing hair where there was none. In any case, many factors indicate this might be a guy. Still, doesn't hurt to be safe.

[–]give_me_a_number 10 points11 points ago

It looks vaguely sexual in nature.

[–]Anol_Secks 10 points11 points ago

17

[–]homohomosapien 8 points9 points ago

that's Numberwang!

[–]Indicia 0 points1 point ago

[–]karlomac 0 points1 point ago

Both the literal and figurative bushes are green

[–]chewy8126 3 points4 points ago

Thank god, it hasn't mastered one-point perspective yet. We're safe for now, everyone.

[–]Iceberg_Sim 1 point2 points ago

Just when I thought the original was breathtaking, you go and do this. A true masterpiece.

[–]HigherConsciousness 1 point2 points ago

Wow that is shitty.

[–]DatGeodude 0 points1 point ago

This is the only original novelty account I've seen.

[–]ColdChemical 0 points1 point ago

I was browsing through shitty_watercolour's comments and saw this one. Immediately I knew what post it was referring to.

Not shitty enough.

[–]philswitchengage 0 points1 point ago

amazing

[–]alcaholicost 11 points12 points ago

Does the water go away under ground?

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 29 points30 points ago

[–]alcaholicost 5 points6 points ago

Thank you.

[–]svnflow 1 point2 points ago

Looks like the waterfall has cut an opening in that rock wall through many decades of erosion.

[–]MEANL3R 3 points4 points ago

Decades? Yeah, hundreds of decades. The entire U-shape is a result of erosion.

[–]redlightnetherlands 2 points3 points ago

Imagine the amount of water that was flowing through that at its peak... amazing.

[–]TriSquaredCircle 1 point2 points ago

eventually :D

[–]elcheeserpuff 10 points11 points ago

For some reason the first thing I thought was "If I were to ever commit suicide by jumping, I'd do it here."

[–]I_B_Trolling 16 points17 points ago

Let me assist your fantasy.

[–]Ras_H_Tafari 5 points6 points ago

I thought "I wonder if I could ride it down like a water slide?", then realized i'd be inadvertently committing suicide..

[–]KimJongSvante 2 points3 points ago

the call of the void

[–]wildekat 0 points1 point ago

I came here to say this! At least I'm not the only one.

(and no, I don't have any tendencies to do so)

[–]Dillinplayer 0 points1 point ago

I suppose you'd die anyway, but just out of curiosity; Does anyone know how deep the pool is?

[–]Ye51d 21 points22 points ago

[–]thenss 10 points11 points ago

that's my country! yeah!

[–]Describe 9 points10 points ago

[–]Khephran 0 points1 point ago

For me the shadows are usually more pronounced on acid, this is still fairly accurate.

[–]mcaffrey 7 points8 points ago

Anyone else see a giant sperm swimming up to that waterfall?

[–]s0crates82[!] 5 points6 points ago

I do now.

[–]chriskatana 7 points8 points ago

my new desktop background.

[–]Elrim208 5 points6 points ago

Nope.

[–]NindoKungFu 6 points7 points ago

cue the "i got vertigo" comments

[–]freshgarbonzo 2 points3 points ago

i got vertigo

[–]chefmcduck 4 points5 points ago

Why is it called Dragon Falls?

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 2 points3 points ago

The mountain is known as Devil's Mountain in the native language, so it's probably related to their mythology.

[–]cgsur 0 points1 point ago

According to one of the first guys there, the name came from the sounds emitted by the tepuis in high winds due to their caves interacting with the wind.

Just Imagine a mountain that emits high strange wails during storms.

[–]Xuis 26 points27 points ago

[–]omgnowai 8 points9 points ago

I don't get it . . .

[–]Ecchii 12 points13 points ago

The wall has the dragon writing from skyrim.

[–]omgnowai 1 point2 points ago

so i see. thanks for that.

[–]ZeroPointTwo 4 points5 points ago

The view down Dragon Falls, Vuvuzela - Damn you brain.. :I

[–]andyface 1 point2 points ago

Yup, read it like that too. Now all I can think is that the water cascading down makes the same noise ಠ_ಠ

[–]toukan 2 points3 points ago

That's beautiful.

[–]Kingpuff 2 points3 points ago

I'm scares of heights but that shit would be fun to jump off of

[–]yesukai 2 points3 points ago

OK, that is fucking amazing.

[–]skybike 2 points3 points ago

If I've learned anything from Minecraft it's that I could jump down that waterfall and totally make it out alive.

[–]CptHandshake 2 points3 points ago

Isn't this the bit on Farcry when you've lost all your weapons?

[–]buddawiggi 2 points3 points ago

Funny that in Skyrim I could ride a horse down that, perhaps even run down it if I was careful.

[–]sifu_scott 2 points3 points ago

Wow...This made my stomach flip.

[–]ihatemonday 0 points1 point ago

Hey, me too.. It felt like I would throw up! :| weird.

[–]BossTortuga 2 points3 points ago

I'm proud to have come from this beautiful country.

[–]dabmaster 2 points3 points ago

Somebody wingsuit that shit. Please.

[–]Savage9645 5 points6 points ago

Possibly the inspiration for the waterfall in the movie 'Up'?

[–]twelvefortyAM 3 points4 points ago

I believe the inspiration for that setting was Angel Falls, very close to this place.

[–]toolatealreadyfapped 1 point2 points ago

right? They totally copied that movie

[–]Mktelly29 1 point2 points ago

Mmmmmnope, I'll never stand right there. But that is an amazing picture

[–]skoorbevad 1 point2 points ago

Looks like a good rappel!

[–]limesasquatch 1 point2 points ago

I must visit that place!

[–]Trooper2442 1 point2 points ago

That's one of the most beautiful scenery I've ever layed eyes on.

[–]LittleOni 1 point2 points ago

And my slow defeating of agoraphobia gets kicked in the nuts...

[–]boka_janata_party 1 point2 points ago

Where are you standing? It seems you took this from air.

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 1 point2 points ago

I didn't take this unfortunately. You're right though, it was taken in a helicopter

[–]boka_janata_party 1 point2 points ago

Thank you! Beautiful picture.

[–]McSpoish 1 point2 points ago

You see, it's things like this that make me want to go travelling!

[–]Isatis_tinctoria 1 point2 points ago

Dragon Fall Z

[–]rustybuckets 1 point2 points ago

I wonder what shout is down there.

[–]voltrondude 1 point2 points ago

wish i could be there

[–]NoleLife 1 point2 points ago

There's a video of a front loader dumping water on a car and its weight crushes it. Would going under a waterfall dumping this much water be as potentially devastating??

[–]leseesel 1 point2 points ago

I'm actually considering to travel there. But the web says Venezuela is kind of a dangerous country with lots of crime. Anyone been there?

[–]Dan_Oner 0 points1 point ago

I live in Caracas (the capital) and i can tell you that Caracas is the most dangerous place, it has a lot very dangerous poor neighborhoods. But Bolivar (where this waterfall is located) is not very dangerous. But i haven´t exactly been there

[–]cgsur 0 points1 point ago

Get a tour directly to Canaima, it used to be pretty safe, probably still is.

[–]fysu 1 point2 points ago

Buckets of nope!

[–]ironic777 1 point2 points ago

If I could give this 10 upvotes, I would!

[–]foayasha 1 point2 points ago

Gave me a chill just looking at it

[–]bonzo_drum 1 point2 points ago

Set As Desktop Background...

[–]tripleEntEntEnt 1 point2 points ago

[–]joodjuyjohn 1 point2 points ago

[–]wolfdragonman 1 point2 points ago

Jump! You can make it!

[–]pungkrocker 1 point2 points ago

Amazing.

[–]captainpiggies 1 point2 points ago

/r/earthporn would love this

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

There's a pretty interesting documentary called Amazonia Vertical about a team of explorers trekking through the jungle and climbing the tabletop mountains from these pics. It's by a guy named Pavol Barabas.

[–]Balatros 1 point2 points ago

Now calling this Dragon Falls S

[–]VadersGonnaVade 1 point2 points ago

I want to jump off this so bad.

[–]mdambach 1 point2 points ago

new iphone wallpaper

[–]hypoid77 1 point2 points ago

Sonic HD

[–]lussie 1 point2 points ago

Every time someone posts one of these gorgeous nature/ancient building/absolutely breathtaking view type pictures I find myself having one reaction.

"God dammit, my bucket list of 'places I want to smoke a joint at' was already too long."

[–]salohcin894 1 point2 points ago

This needs a VERTIGO tag on it lmao. Awesome picture.

[–]ChewyLouis 1 point2 points ago

I want nothing more in this world than to see a time lapse video of the millions of years it took for this to form.

[–]Slayergnome 1 point2 points ago

Is this the waterfall "Up" was based on cause it looks really similar to me.

[–]zachpsx 0 points1 point ago

yes it is. they went to Venezuela

[–]Gallifrey120 1 point2 points ago

I read it as "Dragon Ball, Venezuela" ): Disappointed .

[–]unanymouse 0 points1 point ago

Who else came here for dragon balls?

[–]Deltaway 1 point2 points ago

That's the most beautiful NOPE I've ever seen.

[–]SockMonkeh 1 point2 points ago

You can recruit Gold Dragons here.

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 0 points1 point ago

There are actually gold mines there too.

[–]SockMonkeh 0 points1 point ago

What about a miner's guild?

[–]badsider 1 point2 points ago

Never before have I been made nauseous by a nature pic-well done!

[–]Bloodhoof 1 point2 points ago

New desktop background!

[–]BeardTheBeerBard 1 point2 points ago

I bet there is oil down there. They should drill.

[–]jordanaustin 1 point2 points ago

Thumbs up for looking down at a beautiful photo looking down, while on the toilet holding device below me.

[–]RealisticThoughts 1 point2 points ago

I fucking hate living in New York

[–]Greenfield_Quarles 2 points3 points ago

Tie some balloons to your house.

[–]Cats_In_The_Grass 1 point2 points ago

If screen savers were still in fashion (or need), this would be it... OMG

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

Okay I know this will probably get buried but I would really really appreciate it if someone would photoshop a dragon chilling in the grass by the bottom of the falls. I would like to make it my wallpaper.

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 0 points1 point ago

You may have more luck in r/picrequests

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks! Request made.

[–]Punchabearinnamouf 1 point2 points ago

You know, if I had to fall to my death somewhere...

[–]LeMane 1 point2 points ago

dude thanks for sharing

[–]Rawri 1 point2 points ago

And it looks just as awesome from the bottom

[–]bobandy47 1 point2 points ago

Does it make me insane that the first thing I thought of was "I must do a BASE jump from here..." ?

I think it might... but Reddit can confirm.

[–]Emilaweb 1 point2 points ago

One of the most impressive things about this photo is how awesome this lens would have to be to get this shot.

Oh yeah, and the waterfall.

[–]Dan_Oner 1 point2 points ago

I sad that i live in Venezuela and i have never been in the angel falls nor the Dragon falls, Also is sad that every day this country is deteriorating every day because the Venezuelans (the majority) doesn´t see the beauty of it. Ps: Also in Venezuela is the longest Cable car in the world in Merida ;D

[–]Choppa790 1 point2 points ago

Que parte de Venezuela chamo?

[–]Dan_Oner 0 points1 point ago

[–]Choppa790 0 points1 point ago

[–]averageresponse 1 point2 points ago

I really want to piss off of that. I have this strange need to piss off of high places. Started as a kid pissing off the top of the slide at the playground..

[–]yemd 1 point2 points ago

That gives me vertigo just looking at that picture.

[–]HigherConsciousness 3 points4 points ago

Ok.. wheres the shitty watercolour guy?

[–]Maxximarxamus 8 points9 points ago

He's posted! He's posted!~

[–]HigherConsciousness 0 points1 point ago

Yeah i know.. i posted that about 10 mins before he got there.

[–]googlelover42 0 points1 point ago

i have the strangest sensation of having to go to the bathroom now

[–]i_got_this 0 points1 point ago

That looks like the view down into my toilet after a long night of drinking

[–]coochieCOO 0 points1 point ago

well, that flared up my vertigo

[–]mrimperfect 0 points1 point ago

Being an idiot, my first thought was, "Shouldn't the hole at the bottom be a lot deeper?"

[–]thetoxicmonarch 0 points1 point ago

Shadow

[–]tnk 0 points1 point ago

3, 2, 1 BASE!

[–]Polite_Optimist 0 points1 point ago

I congratulate you, sir. This picture is outstanding! On the bright side, you didn't fall!

[–]TezRex 0 points1 point ago

Base Jumping anyone??

[–]whatfrog 0 points1 point ago

Can anyone explain the photo techniques/gear/processing they used for this pic? (in laymans terms)

I have waterfalls somewhat like this all around me but my pics never come out like that!

Next time on Dragon Fall Z

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Could you base jump from there?

[–]CurtLablue 0 points1 point ago

How I know I'm a nerd. The first thing that pops into my head is how I could totally see that being built into a Helms Deep type of fortress.

[–]Senntinel 0 points1 point ago

I wonder how long of a drop that is.

[–]Andersfrisk[S] 1 point2 points ago

About 300m (984 ft) according to the source.

[–]thesandlion56 0 points1 point ago

I read this as Dragon Ball, Venezuela. I am in awe but now slightly disappointed.

[–]RHandler 0 points1 point ago

So when does the dragon fall?

[–]Pilot824 0 points1 point ago

I notice the lack of earth beneath the photographer

[–]MitchAubin 0 points1 point ago

Does anyone ever attempted to jump that fall with a kayak, that would be awesome.

Oh, and maybe a parachute while you're at it...

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Choppa790 0 points1 point ago

Because their goal was to reach Venezuela.

[–]CndConnection 0 points1 point ago

Makes that jump in Apocalypto look like a walk in the park.

[–]REDDIT_IS_NOT_COOL 0 points1 point ago

I read this as "TIL (something something) Vuvuzela", to which I began looking for the vuvuzela. I was disappointed.

[–]SwampySoccerField 0 points1 point ago

Is there any way to save the panorama so I can have it in case the site goes down?

[–]waywegetby 0 points1 point ago

base jumping, anyone?

[–]digital_darkness 0 points1 point ago

Looks like Nagrand...

[–]GH05TWR1T3R 0 points1 point ago

This is an amazing picture. Thanks for posting.

[–]GH05TWR1T3R 0 points1 point ago

Amazing pic. Thanks for posting this.

[–]cerebral_ballsy 0 points1 point ago

That's not a waterfall. It's a Planetary Colossus pissing into his earth toilet.

[–]drplump 0 points1 point ago

Can you stand under this waterfall?

[–]thebugjim 0 points1 point ago

It's Up IRL!

[–]xtrsports 0 points1 point ago

That looks like a premium base jumping spot

[–]popeycandysticks 0 points1 point ago

Do a flip!

[–]ric2z 0 points1 point ago

Upvote this comment if you're Venezuelan

[–]anomynous 0 points1 point ago

Can anyone see the smiling rock person in the top right of the pic, holding a bowl out that the water is running into? He's pretty happy about it! C=

[–]FeculentUtopia 0 points1 point ago

Where's the water going? The riverbed at the base looks dry in the picture.

[–]Boomitzmuff 0 points1 point ago

i'd jump.

[–]jwmchristie 0 points1 point ago

one of the most stunning photos of a place on earth I have ever seen. It leaves me totally awestruck.

[–]GaijinGrl 0 points1 point ago

He sprung a leak! :_(

[–]Fractaliusifier 0 points1 point ago

[–]flatjesus 0 points1 point ago

Where does the water go? I see a dry creek bed next to a massive waterfall.

[–]ImSamuelJacksonBitch 0 points1 point ago
