Largely a good point, until the end there.

Basically, I take that to mean that if someone holds a religious belief, all they have to do is make up some sort of moral anecdote that doesn't mention their god. As long as the majority of other religious jackasses agree with their moral anecdote, then, PRESTO!!! It becomes law.

That's not what should be happening.

What Obama and every other religious political leader needs to ask themselves instead is this:

"Does my moral conviction actually merit legislation forcing everyone else to abide by it?

"Could I articulate this in a manner that makes sense to a rational person who doesn't believe in a god?

"Does it restrict the rights of someone who's engaged in what I view as a crime, but is actually a victimless act?

"Am I being a dick-hole?"
