I think that a more accurate classification would be "opaque". You see, while nationalistic feelings might protect you from the sunburn of the rays objective perspective (because remaining in objectivity would ostracize you from your society, especially in the united states), they also dim the rays of "truth". The artist is obviously making an allusion to the sun being the creator of truth, and national boundaries obscuring that truth, or at least allowing people to check out girls' asses without being noticed.

I wish more people would get this. Paul's brand of neo-capitalist/Randian/Austrian school politics which has somehow taken on the able of "libertarian" in the US could not be further from the actual ideology of libertarians which is, when applied correctly, a subset of socialism.
Much the same way the US somehow tabled leninism as socialism and the Soviet Union as socialist, despite the Soviet Union actually being closer to fascism (though Lenin was at one time a true marxist-socialist he abandoned those principles quickly after the revolution when he began attacking the workers unions and implementing policies indistinguishable from the Tsars.)
But America also calls the democrats liberal and the republicans conservative, which is laughable compared with academic definitions of the terms or with any other countries political definitions.
