How is that link rrelevant? It gives a logical rebuttal to kleinbl00's argument. His entire post is in fact against reddiquette and therefore the against the vision of reddit's founders. Kleinbl00 argument is predicated by the assumption that karma is a currency and that reddit has a 'GDP' that is affected by the quality of our content. That assumption is arguable and even if we take it at face value, the value of reddit is not in the 'freshness' of content but rather the quality of its userbase. Do we form an environment where opinions and thoughts of individuals are valued or do we degenerate into typical nerd behavior of arguing semantics and trying to be as clever as possible? Given my first response was quite crude in language (apologies, katfordinner) I still stand behind my argument that it is pointless to point out reposts (despite kleinbl00's highly rated comment) because it does not matter. You can not change the opinions of millions of users and you can't dictate what constitutes genuine value. In fact, I'd argue that this freedom of speech is behind the success of the site and those who try to regulate it as anti-progressive. Besides - until reddit actually incorporates a sound search algorithm, it is nearly impossible to stop reposts...which is why there is a voting system and why there are subreddits.
