Right, there's a fundamental lack of understanding of how natural selection actually works. Just as you'll find animals in deep caves or far under the sea losing eyesight or their eyes entirely, natural selection tends to favor getting rid of bits that really serve no function.

It requires fewer resources to maintain the body without something like, say a pair of eyes, and of course they are fantastically sensitive little weak points in a fight or the like, so if they aren't serving purpose then simply removing them can be quite beneficial. This is why most of our vestigial traits, say like the appendix or the coccyx are out of the way.

Natural selection certainly doesn't result in shoulder dicks, or any other such useless feature which none of our ancestors had just suddenly sprouting out of nowhere.
