People don't seem to understand that when walking with a group, a certain formation needs to be established that includes everybody. If necessary, you form two layers. If someone winds up on their layer, you should frequently turn back to include them in the conversation and to show you didn't forget.

At least you don't just walk into them. Jesus tap dancing Christ I just gravitate into anybody i'm walking next to. Its terrible :(

I always get squeezed out by the same person, while I don't mind being in the back, I've made it my mission to get back in and squeeze her out. It's more hassle than I care for, but I enjoy the urge to do an evil laugh every time I succeed. :)

This has been happening to me my whole life and I'll tell you my theory on why this happens.

With me at least, I'm the "runt" of everyone I know. The least respected, the beta/omega male, the quiet introvert. So when a group of people are walking talking amongst themselves, they automatically pair up and kind of assume you wont be doing much of the conversation leading. It's kind of a subconcious thing, are they gonna walk next to another respected member of the group, or you?

I actually like the back. You get to walk peace and quiet and get to look at the scenery without having to worry about walking into something. I think my friends feel awkward for me but I'm ok with it. Sometimes I feel alpha and go in the front (also change of pace - variety is the spice of life you know!) but then I get my fill of extrovertedness and that's done.

You need to find out if you don't mind being in the back or you actually want to be lined up. I mean when I'm part of the row I don't talk much anyway.

Or you need some new friends that you feel more comfortable to be around.

I tend to walk slowly (short legs) but end up controlling the pace of other people because they aren't going to try and ditch me or anything. I speed up a bit but when I have to focus on walking fast to keep up with other people, fuck that.
