Rorschach also dies for what he believes in, with no great promise of salvation, just his integrity.

Rorschach seems to say it best here at least once a week.

Rorschach moved from the front page to my desktop less than two days ago.

This could also be an argument from Christianity or another theistic view

"evil does not exist because of God. We create evil and he is simply indifferent"

but nonetheless good quote

I love watchmen, and this is an awesome quote, but you realize this is just an excuse for anyone religious to say "See! GOD is GREAT but people make bad things happen!"

Disagree completely. God apparently knows everything past present and future, yet still created us knowing what was going to happen and did nothing to stop it. Technically, it IS all God's fault. He was the catalyst to it all.

Erm, Rorshach is also a complete lunatic. Fun character and amazing graphic novel, but this is a terrible argument.

Genius is the border of insanity.

Through his dialogue, motivations and actions, he's the character who demonstrates that we are in charge of our destinies which is both admirable and frightening. Nobody says it better than Rorshach.

(He's the psycho justice driven Batman as opposed to Night Owl's Adam West caricature)

Claiming it's a terrible argument beacuse Rosrhach is nuts is an Ad Hominem attack, and says nothing about how bad the actual argument is.

The main aspect I get out of this is this:

People can do some pretty fucked up stuff, and God doesn't seem to care when it happens, but whenever something small happens that is deemed good in the eyes of God, well all be damned, he must have had some hand in it.

I was pretty sure you actually weren't supposed to sympathize with Rorschach....

Umm...God commissioned this book therefore any argument used against him is invalid? I mean technically, you can not use any book-written argument because, starting with the Bible, every book has been commisionered by God himself?

If I see this one..more..time.

"We do?" Then tell me, how do you make those lines move on your face? That defies all the laws of nature we know of.

Is Watchmen worth a go?

And thanks for the wallpaper!

Answer somewhat with spoilers It is one of the best Comic Book movies ever because it completely turns the ideas of superheroes on their heads. In real life, wouldn't Batman be better off killing the villains so they can't keep escaping and hurting more people? And if there were a Superman, it would be a total waste of his powers to stop petty criminals. Instead, he should use them to say "Listen, Earth, I could destroy this planet in an instant. So be good to each other or I'll fucking do it". This movie explores these kind of ideas. That and, if there are protests or riots going on, who do the heroes side with? The protestors or the police? If there is a War like Viet Nam, do the heroes join in and kill women and children Viet Namese? Are they really heroes? ... It's an awesome movie and graphic novel. Voted one of the best novels of the 20th century by Time Magazine. The only graphic novel on that list. :-) Hopefully I gave a good answer.
