The problem is when a recent posting of it (in this case, this one from two months ago) also got a ton of karma. It shows that a lot of people did, in fact, see it already, so reposting it so soon afterwards is just karma whoring.

I don't care about karma (in fact, I'm fully expecting downvotes for both this and my previous comment). What I care about is over-saturation of stagnation. I come to /r/wtf to have my mind messed with in crazy, unexpected ways, and that's not gonna happen when I only see the same five images 20 times a week. Either that or the post isn't wtf at all, which is even worse than reposts, but that's off topic.

The point is, if reposts are okay, then people will continue to post the same things day in and day out for as long as they think they can get karma for it, and you'll never see anything new. It's just like Hollywood not making a movie out of anything that doesn't have brand recognition. Only it's worse on here specifically because karma doesn't do anything.

TL;DR: Reposters are just like the Hollywood executives who greenlit the Battleship movie.
