Cat, what are you doing there? You're not a towel.

Give him lots of air so he won't grow mildew.

How common is bathing a cat? I've never done it yet I've had at least one cat in my life for the last 34 years. I've never even heard of anyone doing it even after asking around. Just seems kinda mean.

ALL of my cats (10) act like water is acid on their skin.

My kitten pissed all over his own leg the night we bought him because he had just gotten neutered and I guess doing what he usually does to pee was hurting him. Obviously we had to bathe him. He was howling at me the entire time.

I had another cat (he's long since died) that wouldn't struggle during baths, but he sure didn't like it. He was an indoor/outdoor cat, so as you can imagine, he'd come home very dirty at times and need to be properly groomed.

I also once had a longhaired cat. The poor thing would get matted fur all over his belly and it would be hard to brush them out. We'd try to soften the knots with conditioner and then carefully comb them. If they still wouldn't budge, we'd cut off his beautiful fur. He was another one of those "will just sit there and take it" types.

It's very important to only bathe cats when you're positive they can air dry in the environment they're going to be in. Cats dry significantly slower than dogs (not the ones with double layer coats, it's about the same rate with them). So unless you can wait to bathe them around spring/summer time, you have to either crank the heat up in your house to about 80 (just to be safe) or sit them down in front of a fireplace. It's not at all mean unless you're bathing them just to torment them.

We give our cat a bath when she just starts to look dirty and her fur isn't shiny/soft as it usually is (she's really fluffy and has a lot of fur). I feel mean when we do it, but she looks so much better/cleaner afterward.

My aunt had a less fluffy cat and probably a much cleaner house than we do, though, and almost never gave that cat a bath. I guess it just depends on how dirty they get, haha.

If your cat has fleas, a flea bath is the best way to get rid of them if you don't use a flea collar or a Frontline type prevention.

But this is mine. Granted, it was after a bath/shower in my bathroom sink. http://i.imgur.com/u7MB1.jpg

It's a good thing cats don't hold grudges... oh, wait

Nah, it was for her own good. She had fleas when we adopted her so we had to rinse her in the sink with diluted flea shampoo and pick those little critters off her head as they fled the lather. She has no grudge and is a complete daddy's girl.

You think so now... but one night, when you least expect it...

At least that's what happened to me. :)

Oh, no question about that. I get at least one smack in the head a night while I'm sleeping but I look at it as a sign of love. It's a smack followed by some snuggling and purring.

Ooh you naive man. Soon the plans of your nefarious kitten will come into fruition when you find that poop that was left in a special place, just for you.

This is so old that the cat in the picture is probably dead.

We would want to advice all our passengers that the monorail cat is presently experiencing technical difficulties.

The look of stoic acceptance on his/her face makes this picture hilarious to me.
