This is actually a good criticism of Christianity, not atheism. No matter what you do or how you screw up as a Christian, you can ask for forgiveness and get into heaven. Atheists for the most part live with the knowledge that their actions have consequences in the real world.

This is a terrible criticism of both Christianity and Atheism. Any sane person of any creed lives with the knowledge that their actions have consequences in the real world.

I agree, this creed doesn't specifically reflect christians, atheists, or any other group for that matter (save maybe sociopaths). This creed represents immorality, lawlessness, and irresponsibility. I have found that, for the most part, christians and atheists alike just want to do what is good and just.

I respectfully disagree. My argument would be best summed up thusly.

I have to disagree with the last part of this statement, "Atheists for the most part live with the knowledge that their actions have consequences in the real world." By saying this, you're ultimately saying that if there were no consequences, our actions may include those crimes. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't do dick things because I'm not a dick.

How could there possibly be no consequences? If there were no consequences, it wouldn't be an immoral action. Rape where nobody got raped? Murder where nobody dies? Theft where nobody is robbed?

It is horrifying to think that the person who wrote this believes that without god in their life, they would be willing and capable without remorse of doing all of that. Yikes..

Well anyways, back to my child rape dungeon..

I agree, none of us should stand for this. The terrible grammar makes me want to gouge my eyes out. The message is pretty bad too, but that grammar is horrifying. ಠ_ಠ

I'll settle with the fact that they cannot spell on even a 3rd grade level, and that tax evasion is ranked alongside rape. Priorities, fundies gots em.

What is defined in the image is actually nihilism. Silly, they've confused their terms. It's a common mistake that needs to be addressed as it pops up. Atheism is not an ethical philosophy. It's simply a lack of belief in gods. The ethical implications of this vary from person to person, but most atheists do not agree with nihilism. Many atheists believe that morality is an inherited trait that helps social animals thrive, so even without the threat of eternal punishment, morality is very relevant. I think it is more relevant, since this is the only life we get, and we can't just kill a goat or mumble some incantations to make our wrongdoings okay.

Dummer? Dunmer? Are you playing Skyrim? I used to spell "dummer" right, but then I took an arrow to the "b".

That's just plain scary. If there are actually people out there that think that the golden rule isn't self-evident, then I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Action's have consequences, period. I don't get how anyone can rationalize this statement. I guess that is the problem though, most theist's don't rationalize.

This makes complete sense... so why are we locking up prisoners? Let God make the final judgement when these heretics meet him after their final hour.

just because im an atheist doesnt mean i cant live my life by the basic morals of a / any religeon i will not stand people telling me how to live my life but we have morals

The US legal system does not except the 'god made me do it' defense. It does not except 'I have turned my life over to (place religion here)' in lieu of prison time. The reality remains that with over 2 million currently in prison, the vast majority claim to be religious compared to the no comment or Atheist. Here is the best citation I could find to support my statement.

If religion/god had any real effect on the human behavior other than superficial rhetoric; we would not need prisons and this argument would not exist.

The creator of that photo is someone who should be punched repeatedly. What is the link to it or how did you find it?

Bravo.
