The soup is a metaphor for Earth; the solid food is the land, the liquid is the ocean. The strainer represents the population working to dry up the planet so only pure solidity remains. But, in the process, we just get piss and shit all over our pants. And then we die of something, like a puma attack. I am not good at dissecting metaphors.

This is a very true metaphor for life. What is happiness? A fleeting state of well-being, that if held forever would take of in a state of not caring about work or loved ones. What desire? To always get the next best thing. Although we keep going for ambition, happiness, or simply positive emotion we are programmed to never achieve perfection. If "perfect" we stop living.

My strainer does not drain that well. basically i have a metal bowl with holes in them that does not work. it's just raw ingredients soaked in water. but i tilt it and shake it to drain water and i make it work and try to make the best out of what i have. that's my life.
but i too am bad at metaphors.

Some men try to hold the strainer above their head and catch what they can, but they get messy in the process. It is the man who is patient and takes the time to build a bowl to catch the soup that is able to truly enjoy it.
