I grew up reading Calvin & Hobbes, but re-reading the comics now has made me realize just how many of the jokes went way over my head. It's even more awesome than I remember!!

The best comedy is the kind that doesn't treat you like an idiot.

Same here, there's so much depth, and yet you can enjoy it a ton even if you are too young to get the depth.

After reading this, so do I.

Calvin inspired all of my beliefs in one way or another. And i turned out pretty awesome. I still sleep with my stuffed Simba as an adult, and screw around in a tree house out back all the time, and am an all around awesome individual.

"What if when we die it turns out God is a big chicken!?!?!? Eternal consequences, that's what."

I don't remember this one. That's rather unusual, for me.

It was Marmaduke for me. Really though, I wish I had read more Calvin and Hobbes when I was younger.

"What do you mean Marmaduke isn't real?! There is no god!"

We all know Calvin the mighty god created the universe with pure will. His divine plan boiled to cultivation in the Noodle Incident. May meatballs rain from the sky with a side of Italian bread, toasted and lightly buttered. Ramen.

I read these when I was younger (and still do) and are the reason I found out the truth about Santa.

Are some of these not included in the box set? I just read that whole thing and I don't remember this.

It was hilarious to me as a kid.

It is insightful to me now.

It will be a collection of wisdom when I'm an old man.

I love Calvin and Hobbes. Looking back on it I wonder if my parents would of gotten me the books if they knew just how much anti religion and atheism was in them.

Love Calvin and Hobbes. I'm glad the persuasion of a cartoon was enough evidence for you to believe that there is no god.

Where did you find Calvin and Hobbes in HD?

I introduced my 8-year old son to C&H a few months ago and now he's completely hooked. I think he's read every strip a dozen times by now. So proud!

I have taken ideas from calvin and hobbes and tried to use them in school. is that bad?

[–]oozles 0 points1 point ago

I could read C&H all day, and I've spent many days doing just that.

Days well spent.

You're an atheist because of an imaginary character in a book?

[–]Empathetic_Stoner 9 points10 points ago

Well, that is the reason most people are Christian/Muslim et cetera.

Wisdom does not require you to believe in its propagators, it asks only to be considered and weighed against reason.
