Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports). "Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

"Generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission.

Take solace in the fact that Homeworld 2 is Baby's First Space-Sim compared to its predecessor.

Homeworld 1 was not your friend, and you knew it.

What? HW1 was way simpler and easier than the second. In 2, the research needs modules, there are more complicated trees, and the races have way different units (in HW1 Taiidan had a couple different units but in HW2 everything is different pretty much).

True enough, the opposing sides are more differentiated in the second game, but the units are much less specialized and the controls were dumbed way down. Consider how the 5 or 6 classes of corvette were reduced to 2 in the sequel, the addition of controlling "squads" of fighters rather than individuals, and the removal of most of the formation options. It took a lot of the fun strategy decisions out of it and made it feel more like a standard RTS.

Still great fun & I'd love to see HW3, but HW1 was a far more demanding and (for me) entertaining game.

I get where you're coming with on specialized units. I guess after playing HW1 for 6 years or so, you get to know it in and out and it seems easy. There were also a lot of "tricks" that pretty much had to be used in order to win online, such as tight scout swarms, b-balls, ect. To the uninitiated, winning online could seem impossible. Several years later though, I can still trash several hard-level computer players vs myself with minimal effort.

The worst was the fact that you were forced to mine nearly every single credit of resources off a map (which could take an hour) if you were to have the supplies to survive the next mission. Also salvage corvettes, all day every day.
