Yup. But the Norse gods will forever be way more badass than hippie Jesus.

hehe, Greek,Norse, and Egyptian gods were a lot more relate able and cooler than Jesus and Mohammed.

I literally learned everything I know about mythology from this game.

Oh and Norse army men can turn into heroes. At any time.

Did Odin not have control over Thor, and give him his hammer?

[–]dnshnd 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Thor is Odin's son and Odin is the chief of the Norse gods, so in that sense he has some influence over Thor, but Thor is generally depicted as vengeful and hot-headed. As such, if he was bashing some poor giant's head in, it is probably of his own volition, not because Odin commanded it.

Also, Thor's hammer was crafted by dwarves when Loki made a bet that they could not craft treasures more precious than Odin's spear, Sif's golden hair, and Freyr's boat. Odin didn't really have anything to do with it directly, though he did end up getting a pretty sweet ring from the deal.

I believe there was a time in the mythology where Odin said "Don't go kill the ice giants right now," but Thor did anyways.

Probably. Don't remember that bit.

Alternate version: "Your god was nailed to a cross. My god wields a hammer. Any questions?"

Two eyes = Not Odin. I know this is posted every 3 months or so, but if you repost it why not fix it to Odin?

[–]chemeketakid 4 points5 points ago

Also, hammer =/= spear, therefore not Odin.

Age of Mythology. Go play it. It's legit.

This is a norse mythology fail? And did Jesus ever even promise the end of all wicked people? This post is sort of cute at first but too much it wrong with it for it to be funny.

Also, according to Norse mythology, the frost giants will be lead by Hrym to join the battle on vigrid during ragnarök, therefore they won't all be dead until the world has ended.

Jebuz promises an eternity as a mindless angel. Odin promises an eternity in Valhalla, drinking, feasting and having lots of crazy monkey sex. I've made my case.

[–]dnshnd 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Well, technically not an eternity. You'd only be in Valhall until Ragnarök, when you would join the gods themselves on the fields of battle, defending Asgard against hordes of fire giants, frost giants, the undead, wolves, a sea serpent, etc. Now if the sheer glory of that scenario doesn't give you a hardon, then check your pulse, because you might be dead.

Dear god the very promise of that is enough to give me a permanent boner. I have now offically converted to the worship of Norse Gods. o_O

God dammit Amerifats, keep your fat fingers from my scandinavian heritage. Don't drag our noble religion down to your aggressive, shit-tier christian-atheist-feud levels.

Maybe he sent Tor out to hammer down those monsters, but I still think Odin should be the one featured in the image seeing as how his name is mentioned...

Hello, Thor. I see you've come back again for another repost. Only this time you spelled your name wrong. Well done. Have a downvote.

What's really interesting is how christian missionaries convinced Anglo-Saxons (who then believed in the Norse pantheon) into accepting christianity by assimilating christianity into their tropes and motifs - i.e., Your god hangs from a tree and is speared? Funny enough, so was big ole JC! Looking at old english manuscripts, it's clear their slightly warped view of the christian god was influenced by norse beliefs, like the interpretation as jesus the raid-leader, loppin' off the skulls! Woo!
