Too obvious. It's actually possible to make one unsolvable and still have 9 of each colour. One way is to swap two colours sharing the middle of an edge, and there are several others.

I know how to solve a rubik's cube and I don't think it would be at all off-pissing. Solving a rubik's cube is all about patterns and following steps which consist in repeating a predetermined series of moves. No matter what technique you use to solve it you'd eventually reach a step where the switch would become obvious. Then it'd be as simple as switching whatever edge or corner is giving you trouble.

The thing is that it is impossible to switch a single edge cube on a Rubik's cube without switching something else crucial to the solve.

Not really. I can't speak for cheap chinese cubes, but if you want to disassemble your rubik's cube all you have to do is rotate any face 45 degrees and pry any edge (not corner) piece off it and it'll pop right out.

Oh ye of little faith, it hasn't exactly been mass produced or anything yet, but I see no reason why a blind person would not be able to solve the cube as long as there are blind-friendly channels for them to learn through.

Honestly, I wish someone just explained how it's solved, i.e. the layer method, without going through the actual metodology. I would have been content figuring out the algorithms myself, although I sincerely doubt I'd ever solve the final layer, as it is by far the least intuitive.

looks like it, but I saw a few of these in China.. you can buy them for like $3-$5 each.

I was "testing" some out in the middle of a big mall and checking to see the looseness of one and it exploded all over the floor. Worst thing that ever happened to me in china.

It is a render, but they do sell them. They textured cubes that they make as well. They make ones that have an offset center too. There are cubes with patterned sides instead of colored for colorblind people. You'd be surprised at the number of different variations that are made.

This kid at my school could solve the regular ones behind his back. He was allowed to look at it once before he started and then he couldnt look again till he was finished. He had to visualize every move he made in his head. I don't think a braille one would be that hard for a blind person.

That wouldn't be any more difficult then a normal one. And a blind person could easily figure that one out. I think it would be a great tool for learning to solve the Rubik's cube blindfolded.

I've often wondered how I could make learning to do the Rubik's cube blindfolded more easy...and this is perfect. You could get totally comfortable doing a Rubik's cube without looking at it and sooner or later you wouldn't need the braille at all.. God damnit, I dont need to get addicted to Rubik's cubes again.
