This is from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie, by the way.

Part of me really, really wanted this to be real. But then the other parts suddenly remembered the movie right when I read it. I'm sad now.

I hope you didn't actually inform someone.

Well, maybe some people haven't seen it. It's not in the books, you know.

This, I've seen the tv series three times and read around half the books but I can't recognize a thing from the movie.

Douglas Adams wrote the original screenplay for the movie. He intended for there to be different things in it because he believed every version (radio, book, reprintings, tv, movie) should be different in some way.

I remember reading in an introduction to his books that the stories have a tendency to conflict from one medium to another. That was probably the only intro I enjoyed reading, but I guess that's what Adams does.

That's exactly what I was referring to. It's the intro to the Ultimate Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy, the one that combines all of the books.

The BBC series for Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. It came before the movie and books.

Did a little research, turns out it was a radio series even before that :) cool.

Douglas Adams absolutely hated the TV series, from what I've heard. In my opinion, the radio series is probably the best version of The Guide.

It's so low budget that it makes contemporary episodes of Doctor Who look like a Michael Bay production, the actress playing Trillian is in so far over her head that she risks drowning, and yet, I love the BBC Miniseries so much.

Worst thing since sliced bread.

How do you toast the first side of a new loaf? And do you really want a toast with a cold, stale side? No thanks.

[–]superhope 3 points4 points ago

No one wants to eat the end pieces anyway.

Also, you eat the entire loaf in one go.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

End pieces are the best, I don't know what you're talking about.

Looks a little burnt. Could use a heat control.

[–]rjhunt42 3 points4 points ago

But then you're left with one side of the toast cold every time you go to slice a new slice

[–]Kurskovich 2 points3 points ago

solution: eat the entire loaf

But we already have sliced bread. We dont need a knife to slice it for us.

This reminds me of something I always wanted to become real. Everyone loves lightsabers, what I would like though, is a pocket-lightsaber. Like a 6 inch blade on it would be awesome. That way it's compact, easy to conceal, (even though regular sized ones are too) and it would be so practical. Self-defense, repairs, etc. It would take over Swiss army knives.

Would this be more appropriately named as a toast saber or a bread saber?
