I can't stand clowns. When I was a kid, my parents had a copy of this painting hanging in the hallway of our house, and I was terrified of it - I didn't even want to walk past the thing, especially at night.

Just a few years ago, I came across the original painting ("Clown with Black Wig" by Walt Kuhn) on a visit to the Museum of Art in NYC, and I was literally frozen in my tracks - this thing still freaks me out.
