Oh man, I used to work pretty much right there. One day, when I went across the street to lunch, a school bus painted in psychedelic colors pulled up and its twenty-something passengers started shouting, "Quit your job and get on the bus!" at the lunch crowd. One of the girls on the bus picked me out of the crowd and said, "Hey, man, do you want a beer? We've got lots of beer! Come on, get on, man!"

Then the light changed, they took off to who knows where, and I finished my lunch and went back to the office.

Having recently returned from a trip to San Francisco, I can assure the rest of America, that public nudity is not that big of a deal there. Early one afternoon, my wife and I were waiting with a group of locals for a bus not too far away from where this photo was taken, when a man, no younger than 60, walked by wearing nothing but a backpack. I would like to point out that the "hatemongering" Christians were trying to provoke others. All common sense would suggest that when someone is trying to provoke a harsh response, responding in a harsh manner, is often the wrong move. We complain about the police being too harsh when someone is provocative. We complain when people have harsh reactions to provocative posts, we complain when our government responds too harshly to provocation.

So my point is to ask, if the appropriate response is to temper the reaction, how is this in any way consistent with that ideal? If the hatemongering christian experienced the man as being threatening or infringing upon his space, would you have supported that christian if there was a harsh response. After all, if a man takes his clothes off in public, and moves close to another person, I think we would all agree, understanding the naked man's intentions is not easy. So a more physical response could be justified. Then what? People rush in and attack the christians?

In some way, I think the hatemongering christians, by not reacting, showed some restraint that needs to be recognized.

So instead of just blindly praising the man, let's consider the re-action. Those christians are not going to go away, the government can't make them move, and we should not harm or interfere with them. So, what to do? I am not entirely sure this, what the man did, was the right thing to do.
