It's from /r/trees, where a number in brackets from 1 to 10 indicates how high they are (0 being sober and 10 being the highest they have ever been). It's so they can relate more easily to the state of mind they are in.

I stopped going to my Psych class and decided to just go for the test review days and test days. Got the schedule wrong, ended up showing up for a test that I had absolutely no information on, got a B. Didn't mean I was smart, just meant that class was a fucking waste.
