This construction is called 'positive anymore', and is a dialect feature quite common in the US midlands (PA, OH, IL, IN, etc.), where I assume the OP is from. It more or less means "these days", but if you don't speak a dialect that allows this, it sounds pretty odd at first.

EDIT: Ok, I'm from IL, and I still don't think this sounds right (from the Wiki examples):

"Anymore we watch videos rather than go to the movies."

That doesn't doesn't make sense to me. However, the title of this post makes sense to me. It's basically saying "I'm afraid to play Half Life more" but that sounds awkward, because it doesn't really imply how long "more" is. "Anymore" simply means "from now on." Right? Do people not use that phrase like that?

For most US dialects, "anymore" can only be used in interrogative or negative-polarity sentences, e.g. "I can't feel my legs anymore" or "I don't know what I'm doing anymore".

"Anymore we watch videos rather than go to the movies." That doesn't doesn't make sense to me. However, the title of this post makes sense to me.

This is pretty common, only a fraction of speakers who are fine with sentences like "This is why I'm afraid to play Half-Life anymore." also allow "anymore" to be fronted. It's similar to double-modal use in the midlands and south. Many speakers allow constructions like "I might could do that", but fewer allow sentences like "I may can do that".

Anyways, to answer your question, in sentences like this, speakers of most dialects of US English would probably use "now" or "these days" in place of "anymore", but it depends on the sentence really.

EDIT: The great thing about positive "anymore" is that it's not a stigmatized/stereotyped feature, so most people are totally unaware of its existence. The types of pragmatic contexts that positive "anymore" is used in are relatively rare, so even when people that use this construction are around others that don't, its absence isn't conspicuous enough for them to notice that anything's different. For those that don't allow this construction, many just assume it's a one-off speech error, due again to the relative rarity of the construction. It's only in writing that it truly sticks out.

TL;DR: (socio)linguistics is fucking interesting.
