Just happened "one day"? How about billions of years?

How is such stupidity even tolerated? Is this the majority opinion in the US? I live in the Quebec province, one of the most atheist regions in the world, and I simply don't understand how batshit crazy the United States society really is in regards to religion. It really makes me want to pull my face skin around my head.
