Insomniac didn't have it anymore at that point, that's what happened. : p

I still keep holding onto a dim glimmer of hope that those guys would make a new series at least somewhat in the vain of Spyro, but I think they're doomed to be FPS makers. : /

Now, I love me some Ratchet and Clank, but haven't been able to play in years now (no PS3...).

Well, I actually DID play Tools of Destruction, but my PS3 crapped out soon after, and I don't exactly have the luxury of plopping down 200 bucks for a new one.

Not quite sure I like where the series is headed, though. The demo of All 4 One is alright, but seeing as the main appeal is multiplayer, they had to sacrifice a bit of the platforming and exploration. Plus the CPU partner is extremely retarded in that it prevented me from completing one of the demo levels EVERY time.

You mean after Insomniac Games was forced to give up the rights to Spyro to Universal Studios to become their own independent company. They went on to create Ratchet and Clank while Universal tried to bank off the Spyro franchise by making terrible games.

That game was the antithesis to everything good about Spyro. It's like it wanted us to hate it. Shitty graphics that somehow managed to be worse than the PS1 games, overly long and dragged out levels with TOO MANY FUCKING GEMS to find in each one, 2-4 minute long loading times for one fucking level, boring-ass boss fights, a stupid-ass retcon for the sake of a dumb-ass plot, shitty new mechanics replacing great old ones, and Spyro now moved at the speed of a fucking snail, even when charging. There was nothing to like about this game!

And Crush and Gulp talked! WHY THE FUCK DID THEY TALK.

Skylanders isn't a Spyro game. It's not part of the series at all, yes Spyro's in it but it's not a Spyro game. Anyway it is a really good game despite the fact Spyro is ugly as fuck. If it ruins your childhood you had a very fragile childhood.

Never said it ruined my childhood so don't know where you're getting that. I can shudder at a game that yet again takes us that step closer to ruining Spyro's public image without outright declaring my entire past knowledge and feelings of his character a disgrace.

For me, it was a downhill battle after the first 3 PS1 games.

As underraker said, they are all available on PS store and playable on either a PSP or PS3.

PS+ users got all 3 for free! As someone who never owner a PS1 or the Spyro games, playing through all of them has been a lot of fun.

Spyro went to shit as soon as Insomniac stopped making them. 1,2 and 3 were amazing, after I played the first one for ps2 that was mentioned before, I gave up on the series. Too bad, great times as a kid. On the bright side Insomniac went on to make Ratchet and Clank which I think is an amazing series.

I never really had a problem with him. I always got 100% on every level (completionist) anyways, so I was never shorted for gems. :3

What really annoyed me were those damn egg thieves. Always hear their mocking, while you chase them to no avail. Took me until near the end of the 2nd game before I found out you could burn them; I always just kept dashing until I caught up. :/
