This (ironically) doesn't work on people who are learning english. showed it to my adopted mexican cousin (first language spanish) and he's like "I don't get it" he read it out loud, "i got a dig bick, you that read wrong". When you read your mother tongue, you don't actually read it. You sort of do a quick skimming pass and if the shape of the words (length, letter pattern, ending/beginning letter) and if it's a phrase you've read a billion times your brain doesn't bother to actually look at each character and examine it.

In this case, similar letters ("b" and "d") were transposed, so the difference in the shape of the words was hard to notice in the skimming pass.
