I actually met Liam Neeson in person, and because of my experience with him, I will always go to see his movies. I will be seeing "The Grey" on tuesday.

Back when I was a kid, I was living on Victoria rd in Halifax, NS, Canada. My parents managed the building we were living in, and they got an application for temporary stay from someone in australia who was going to work on the sub crew for the movie K19: The Widow Maker. They accepted, and when he moved in, became friends with my parents. Anyways, one day, getting ready for school my mom goes "Your not going to school today".

Confused, I took off my coat and went and watched TV. They got me a few hours later, and walked to the port with me (Seriously, a 2 minute walk away). When we got there, we met up with the guy from the sub crew (I THINK his name was Scott. this was many many years ago, and I didn't really know him). He was piling day-old pop into the back of his car (as actors apparently won't drink day-old pop...). He looked at us and said "Just in time!".

He walks us over to where the sub is, and who walks out? Fucking Liam Neeson and Harrison Fucking Ford. I get really excited, and, as I'm still pretty young, run up and say hi. Harris Fuckhead Ford just brushes me off and walks away. What does Liam Neeson do? He comes up, shakes my hand, and says "Do you want a tour of the sub"?

Hells fucking yeah I want a tour of the sub! Best time of my life. This actor, who is probably tired of shooting the same scene multiple times that day (and he did look visibly tired), took time out of his day for someone who admitted they didn't know who he was (I got excited as I loved Harrison Ford, never saw a Liam Neeson movie prior to K19). He signed a homework paper for me, as that was all I had (and lost now :( ), and was really kind.

That's fan-service right there people, despite me, technically, not being a fan. After that, I decided I would see every single movie he was in when it came out in theaters. I have NEVER pirated a Liam Neeson movie. This guy deserves my money for the less-than-30-minutes he spent with me when I was in Junior High.

I'm a bit disappointed in him at present. Turning down the role of Abraham Lincoln, directed by Spielberg, yet still involved in the soon-to-be atrocity of "Battleship?" Not that I've accomplished much of note in life, but I just hold him to a high standard, particularly after being awesome in Schindler's List, Les Misérables, Kingdom of Heaven, etc. It seems like he is taking the low road with superficial action films when I think he has the potential to play increasingly substantial and deep characters.

Strange timing.

I've always liked him but recently thought he was an ass.

While filming The Grey he had wolf meat flown in to eat for him and some crew as a form of method acting.

Sensationalism of the film aside (hopefully we don't have another Jaws on our hands), having meat flown in from an animal that was JUST taken off the endangered species list for the sole purpose of 'staying in character' just screams asshole to me.
