Yo, bro, just your resident friendly microwave chef here. If you can stand to let it sit the recommended amount of time, you'll find that the heat has (mostly) dispersed evenly throughout your food, eliminating that terrible bane of horribly uneven temperatures. No more ice cubes surrounded by magma packets. The more you know.

as a rule, i microwave things for twice the recommended time but at 50% power. sure it takes longer, but food is generally pretty even-temperature.

I just sit it in the middle of the microwave so the outside is magma and the middle is ice. then when it comes out I shake it/mix it to get it all even.

Just so you know, it tells you to let it stand for two minutes because during that time it's still cooking (yes, even when not in the microwave). I'm pretty sure they don't give two shits about you burning your mouth.

If you have a rotating platter like most do now, be sure to put it on the outside not the inside so it cooks more evenly hopefully cutting down on crazy hot spots.
