They could make an entirely new photo with other cast members from those shows. Keeping with the idea of one character per show I would go: Ed O'Neil, Laurence Fisburne, Nick Offerman, NPH stays, B.J. Novak, Johhny Galecki. Make this happen Internet. Disappointing lack of Community representation too.

If you're wondering. From left to right: Ty Burrell, Ted Danson, Aziz Ansari, Neil Patrick Harris, Ed Helms, and Jim Parsons.

If it's actually possible for him to be anywhere close to a million times funnier than he is in Parks and Rec, I must see this show.

[–]tokomini 10 points11 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Human Giant is sketch comedy, so you get to see many different sides of Aziz which is great. I like the character that the writers of P&R have sketched out him though (Tom Hafferford, and that's just a phonetic version I have no idea how it's spelled) because he gets to go all out yet still show compassion for Leslie and Co. when appropriate.

Has it gotten better? I watched the first few episodes, and I found it really boring. It seemed mainly focused on the weird friend with the talk show rather than on Will Arnett.

Edit: grammar.

[–]Spikor 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I watched 2 episodes. One where Will and Christina tried not to act like aging parents, which I thought was hilarious. Another, they focused on the Oprah character, which was not hilarious. I should give it a tie-breaker try, but I'm too butthurt that it got to stay on the air, while I have to wait for more Community.

I found the Birth episode to be particularly hilarious. The best episodes are the ones focused on the Will, Christina, and their daughter. They're really trying to over involve Maya Rudolph's character.

Tell me what you guys think of this:

Neil Patrick Harris plays renaissance man Neil Weatherford, a San Francisco life coach, in this hilarious new one-hour sitcom on NBC. Weatherford's mentees come from all walks of life:

There's psychotherapist Craig Grimsley (Ted Danson; Cheers, Becker, Bored to Death). Craig's life is boring, he sits in a chair all day doodling on his clipboard while obsessive compulsive patients spill out their problems. But Craig has bigger dreams. He wants to make a name for himself in the world of psychology. That's when he hires life coach Neil Weatherford.

There's Jack McBurney (Ty Burrell; Modern Family), a newly divorced father trying to raise his two daughters (14 and 11). As Jack struggles with his job as a commercial producer and raising two daughters through puberty, he hires Neil Weatherford to provide guidance.

There's Jeremy Caines (Aziz Ansari; Parks and Recreation, Human Giant) a fledgling entrepreneur looking to start his own restaurant. As Jeremy divides his time between attempts to strike luck with the lady and attempts to manage his new business. Jeremy's last two businesses (selling shake weights and making knock off i-Pods) have failed, so he desperately needs his new business to be a success. That's when he hires Neil.

Lawrence Ovalle (Ed Helms; The Office, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart) is the flustered newly-promoted manager of a Tupperware sales branch. As Lawrence struggles to manage his co-workers and keep Tupperware sales up, he hires Neil to mentor him.

Lastly there's Danial Schiff (Jim Parsons; The Big Bang Theory), an acclaimed mathematician with an I.Q. of 160. Although Danial receives universal appraise from his peers for his work on astoundingly difficult equations, he is completely inept at socialization. He's usually only speaks to his colleges rarely, and in short sentences; any attempts at talking to attractive females is almost impossible. Daniel hires Neil to teach him the ways of becoming the most interesting - and desired - man in the room.

Tune in each week as Neil teaches something new to his mentees about loving life.

Oh, do we have to let it last 7 seasons? It would get all moody and melodramay, the protagonists would become weird and often unlikable, there would be bad drug metaphors... it would ruin my memory of the show.

Now, 5, 5 would be fun. Four solid seasons, although perhaps they could be better if you got rid of Mal's annoying son, but still four solid seasons with one brilliant season as number 5 where they join their former enemies.

Queue the Jim Parsons/Big Bang Theory hate comments...

I'll just lose some karma and say it anyway, I happen to enjoy Big Bang Theory, it gives me a good chuckle every now and then for 22 minutes with or without the canned laughter from the studio audience.

I understand its not properly representing nerds/geeks but if you don't take it too seriously it can be enjoyable.

I think Jim Parson is a really good actor. He doesn't ever seem to stumble when playing the character, specially with the smaller nuances that Sheldon character does and he has kept the growth of the character going through all the seasons consistent.

How was that a decent movie role? That was barely a cameo.

[–]Derporelli 6 points7 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I found it funny that he was the human form of a Muppet. It was humorous, I never said he deserved an Oscar or anything.

[–]cameronoremac 12 points13 points ago

But in that cameo he was brilliant

I have a friend who did a physics degree and he said there was at least two people who were exact replicas of Sheldon on his course.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points ago

I hate to generalize, but the only people i've ever met who have a physics degree were incredibly socially awkward.

[–]squarefrog 15 points16 points ago

He's actually a really nice bloke. Incredibly intelligent. I wouldn't really know as I'm socially awkward so i can't really comment :)

Does anyone else see that Jim is like, muscular and of a really athletic frame?

He's a male Zooey - ohhh, I'm so awkward and weird, oh wait, I am attractive... well let's forget that part for now and keep talking about how cute it is that I'm awkward...

It's usually the spelling that people have trouble with regarding that word, not the meaning.

I think if i had seen an episode before Jim Parsons beat out Steve Carrel for the Emmy, i may have been more open-minded about it. But now, i see it and I sit there thinking. THIS gut beat Steve's departure after seven years?!

I don't like The Big Bang Theory at all but I don't have any problem with Jim Parsons. He's probably the only character in the show I ever find funny and he killed it in The Muppets.

[–]abbott_costello 2 points3 points ago

I agree with you. It seems as though people think TBBT is offending them or something by "misrepresenting" the "nerd" population. I don't think people should think of the show as trying play into the "nerd" stereotype; rather, they should enjoy the show as is and not force it to meet their preconceived "nerdy" conceptions.

All in all I love the show. My 80 year old grandma loves the show, along with my 55 year old dad. We don't laugh because we're thinking "haha, nerdy guy did nerdy stuff", we laugh because we think it is genuinely funny.

Ty Burrel is Ted Dansons eldest son, after years being a successful business lawyer in a cut throat hedgefund. It is closed due to ethics concerns that mainly implicate Ted Danson as bribing congress and senate members for whatever contrived reason.

Jim Parsons would play the youngest son of Ted Danson, with Neil Patrick Harris being the middle son, who grew up with the mother and is less neurotic and controlling as Ty, Jim and Ted's characters.

Ed Helms would be the best friend of Ty's character, while Aziz Ansari is the intern who still works in hedgefunds and uses Ted Dansons prior experience to get ahead... A complicated plan on getting Ted Danson back into the game by riding on the old interns new job.

It would last two seasons, Neil Patrick Harris would bed Ed Helms ex-wife, then they'd end up in a threesome at the end of season two, with Neil Patrick Harris spooning Ed Helms and the ex-wife cold and alone on the far side of the huge bed. Jim Parsons would poke holes in the schemes and machinations of his father and apprentice Aziz. Ty Burrel would do his best to keep everyone from exploding/imploding... Maybe this could be the Phil Dunphy that never married or had kids... The one who invents stupid shit in the garage and makes bank.

Possibilities.

This show wouldn't be any good. These are all the wacky counterparts to a kooky/serious contrast pairing. Phil to Claire, Sheldon to Leonard, Ted to Barney, Tom to Ron/Ben/Mark (R.I.P.)/Leslie, and Andy to both Jim and Darryl. It wouldn't work with Ted Danson being the only straight man.

TL/DR Sam Malone isn't enough serious for 4 wild and crazy guys.
