The game is no longer owned by naughty dog. It's owned by the people who made ratchet and clank. They made a jak 4: the lost frontier but it sucked so hard that it imploded into a pool of no longer existent Eco.

Insomniac Games did not make Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. High Impact Games did. Insomniac wouldn't fuck up a game like Jak and Daxter, however High Impact did and they did with some of their Ratchet and Clank spin-offs aswell.

No kidding. R&C was a great series akin to J&D. Naughty Dog and Insomniac are friends, I don't think Insomniac would mess up their IP that bad, given the track record with R&C.

How could they fuck it up? I figured they would be pretty good at games that requires tons of platforming, guns, funny cast, a main hero and a silly sarcastic sidekick that everyone loves more than the hero, and tons of collectibles. Seriously how is it even possible for them that they fucked it up?

I am glad I am not the only one that wasn't happy with the gameplay and tone change. The first one was just so much carefree fun and a damn fine plattformer. Next logical step: make the sequel gta-esque.. wot?

I loved Jak and Daxter and Jak 2 but the the sequel was so off and different than the original. I wish it had more of that jungle and explore uninhabited territory vibe but it became into something from The 5th element.

This series took a real left-turn, especially by the third one. The storyline and gameplay was so wildly divergent from the first game that it felt like a different series.

Yeah, it's funny looking back on gaming trends. Everyone wanted Darker and Edgier and everyone wanted Grand Theft Auto clones. So we got Jak 2.

Likewise, when everyone wanted stealth missions, we got Wind Waker. Then everyone wanted cel shading and stealth missions and we got Sly Cooper.

I played though the game a couple times back when the game was new, then did a speed run. I beat the game in less than 8 hours.

Also, why didn't you play it when you found out it was so good that they made a sequel, and re-released it as a greatest hit, then made a third for a complete trilogy? Seems like that would have been enough to spark my curiosity.

Jak and Daxter was so great. Its tone fit its gameplay so perfectly that when they changed it for Jak 2, I was oh-so-very sad.

Personally, I think this game is just screaming for a reboot where things stay along the same themes and lighthearted tones of the first one. Sort of an alternate continuity from the end of the first one.

I could never ever get more than 100 power cells, I still vaguely remember that one last power cell that I could never get - there was a like cave and you had to destroy dark eco crystals within a time limit otherwise they'd respawn. I spent ages and never got the last power cell :(

I remember getting 101 power cells, 112 scout flies, and 2000 orbs within the same day. I played this game waaaaay too much, but I'm still getting the HD collection. I just wish I could get a fucking specific release date for the EU, rather than Wikipedia being an ever-changing, source-less point of knowledge.
