I saw something a bit like this just last Saturday, sadly it didn't end so well for the pigeon.

The front wheel missed the bird as the car passed over it, but the bird then decided that now would be a good time to walk out from under the car just as the back wheel was moving over it.

The wheel passed directly over the birds body, it was almost like slow motion as the bird went from being upright then lower and lower until its beak was touching the road. As this was happening, various organs (I think I may have seen its heart) came out of the birds chest, it was fairly gross and the colour of the blood I will never forget. It actually looked more like thick gloopy bright red paint, a bit like some really shit horror films where you think "that blood doesn't even look like blood".

The female friend I was with was horrified (as was I to be honest!) and made me pick it up and take it to the side of the road. When I picked it up it was still alive, but I'm fairly certain that it died in my hands. For a horrible moment I thought I was going to have to put it out of its misery.

There were a shit load of people watching at this point, so I just took it over to the pavement and placed it down out of the way. I'm fairly confident it was dead, but I still wonder if it was alive and if so, how long it may have suffered.

My friend and I couldn't stop thinking about it and it put us off our dinner somewhat. She kept commenting that it didn't look well anyway as it was fairly slow moving. I just went along with that if it were to help her deal with the horror she had just seen (It looked fine to me).

TLDR: Saw something similar, bird wasn't so lucky
