Wow, just last night my friend was drinking and went outside with a few friends, I didn't see this but apparently he jumped off the roof and broke a few bones and ligaments in his foot.

I once taught iphone programming at a summer camp (age 13-17ish kids). One of the more advanced kids developed an app that would tell you, if you dropped your phone, how far it dropped.

Well that would only work if you're pointing it at the ground, have a pretty accurate GPS fix, and are in a location where the ground is fairly level.

I think my solution would work much better for small distances, i.e. less than 20 feet. Your would work much better for larger distances, given the above constraints.

Funny thing is, i did exactly this. I jumped off my buddy's roof and broke my ankle/leg (growthplate and tibia/fibia). Once i got back from the hospital, someone showed me this. How different that day wouldve been if only i have this on my phone
