Beware of trading scammers!

A subreddit for anything related to games (but not sports).

"Related" means that posts must contain gaming-related content in the link/post body, not just a "forced" connection via the title or a caption added to the content.

Posting Rules

  • Posts must be directly gaming-related. Thus, "generic" image macros/memes (where the character itself is not related to gaming) like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, etc. will be removed. Something that "reminds you of a game", or "looks like something from a game" is also not an appropriate submission; similarly, reaction GIFs are also not appropriate as submissions.

  • Following Reddiquette is encouraged

  • No "general" URL shorteners (bitly, tinyurl, etc). Single-site URL shorteners (such as youtu.be or fav.me) are allowed.

  • No game or product giveaway of any kind

  • NSFW submissions and comments must be labeled

  • Spoilers can be posted using the following formatting:
    [X Kills Y](/spoiler)
    Result: X Kills Y.

  • To mark a spoiler as relevant to a specific game/topic, use the alternate formatting:
    [Player 1 wins](/spoiler "Pong")
    Result:
    Player 1 wins

  • Report posts containing spoilers not using the above method

  • Don't post users' personal information.

Submission Rules

Is your post not showing up? Do not delete it. Wait 5 minutes to give AutoModerator a chance to look at it; it approves most submissions automatically. If it hasn't shown up after more than 5 minutes, simply message the moderators and ask us to let it through.

Some fan theory are rather interesting too, it's not "the developer thoughts", but theory like Link being lost in Lost wood, slowly turning into a Stalfos (which come in Twilight Princess) is interesting. In fact, that theory is not proven false by this timeline. Get more into it if you want, it's quite amazing.

I know how most of those games go, and I didn't even understand it. Regardless, I'll still upvote because someone took the time to make this.

I prefer the fan timeline more. This one is pretty good too, but i usually like games having a story that links up in 1 straight line.

There are several fan timelines and some are split timelines.

There was one particular one that appeared on /r/gaming a month back or something, basically managed to link all the games without a split timeline and wouldve been better than the actual one.

Which is kind of bullshit. It actually assumes that the Hero of Time™ fails his quest at one point, which is against his destiny, is it not?

What a lot of fans are taking "The Hero of Time fails" to mean is the third plotline is created when Link goes back in time to retrieve the Silver Gauntlets and Lens of Truth. Because he has altered the past by removing some items, he can never return to the future that he woke up into before the Forest Temple (if you play the game in canonical order). That future is the one where Ganon rules.

EDIT: For clarity and because I skipped a word.

Which is BS because it means Link failed his quest. That cannot happen to Link. That would be like saying "This movie takes the continuity where John McClain doesn't stop the terrorists" which doesn't make sense, because John McClain is physically incapable of failure, as is Link.

John McClain has a passive ability to walk on broken glass and still kick ass. That is an unfair comparison.

But actually, I find your logic confusing because the only way Link could succeed and even beat Ganon was to get the Silver Gauntlets (if you're boss at OOT, you may not need the Lens of Truth). The original future, according to the game devices, cannot be saved by Link simply because he lacks the items to do so.
