I'll just explain what WatchYourTone meant. The White Stripes is basically a solo act. Jack writes all the music and lyrics, the music is driven by his guitar, he plays piano and keys, etc. He's even a better drummer than Meg. Meg was there because she let him shine. Her ability (her perhaps lack of ability) allowed him to do what he wanted to do. Plus, they had good chemistry on stage. I don't think they ever had set lists or anything like that for concerts.

So yea, the White Stripes is basically Jack White.

because it's apparently "cool" to hate them. just like it was to hate Creed back in the day.. or Coldplay.. or Twilight.. or Justin Bieber.. or any other popular thing. i hate the teenagers(and adults that act like teenagers) of today.

call me crazy, (and i'm not hating on you at all.. everyone has their own opinions) but i believe if you had no other influences to tell you that liking those things was uncool.. you actually wouldn't mind them.. or at least wouldn't hate them or think they "fucking suck".

it's like smoking cigarettes... who the fuck would actually just start doing that? "ooh look.. a dirty white stick that i can light on fire, put in my mouth.. and inhale this awful disgusting smoke. and a pack of these bad boys are only 5-12 dollars! yay!.. it's a good thing i need to buy at LEAST 3 packs a week.. i don't need that extra money from my paycheck anyway.."

if it wasn't "cool" to do it.. and people didn't always explain to others that it relaxes them... and they get extra breaks at work... i doubt any sane person would even think or care to enjoy that habit.

i agree in the aspect that people just started hating them trying to be cool, but some people like me hate them because they literally said in an interview that after their first cd they tried to change up their music so they would have more radio hits. That my friend is called a sellout, however most of the people hating on them do not know about that and hate on them online but then turn around and listen to their album when it comes out.

hate to break it to ya.. but EVERY band you have ever heard multiple songs on the radio, has changed their sound a bit to try to gain more radio hits and rise on the charts. people shouldn't hate Nickelback because they openly admit it.
