Actually this was a sad night. The tree ended up catching fire during the race and the forest and surrounding houses were burnt to the ground. 12 families had to be displaced and multiple pets died in the fires. how can this be funny?

There is only one choice for fire breathing fuel. Clear lamp oil, the purest you can find. Also, Dont be fire breathing if you dont have someone training you that knows what they are doing. I myself have gotten hurt even under supervision. (although whip training was worse, I still have scars.)

No freaking way. Lamp oil is too greasy for my tastes. Because it is so greasy, it doesn't evaporate and it ends up turning my wet towel into a fuel soaked wick which is obviously unsafe. Not too mention the smoke leaves me with black boogers, a slight cough, and messy equipment.

I prefer white gas (Coleman campstove fuel). It leaves a metallic taste in my mouth but burns cleanly and some of my tricks require the higher octane. It evaporates quicker and burns a little hotter but in the end I prefer that to the alternative.

I prefer white gas

You are going to die, or injure yourself so badly that you will wish you were dead, if you keep using white gas. It has a flash/evap temperature far too low to breathe fire safely. You're going to get a blowback sooner or later, or if you're lucky and quit before you do, chemical pneumonia.

Please, please, please don't use white gas/naptha. Lamp oil/kerosene only.

Kerosene gives me chemical burns. It makes my whole mouth numb and peels the skin off of my face like a sunburn. Lamp oil smoke irritates my throat and nose. Black boogers for days. The worst I get from white gas is a metallic taste in my mouth or the occasional hungover feeling after accidentally swallowing too much in one night. Lots of water and a greasy meal fix that like a charm.

On a related note, it was what my teacher recommended. Ten years ago. He's in his 60's and has been a fire-eater since the Nixon administration. 2

EDIT: As for blow back, any flammable liquid carries that risk. That is why any fire-eater worth his salt will always have a soaking wet towel in hand in case of emergencies. The biggest risk with white gas in that respect is its tendency to reignite if the towel is removed too quickly which reintroduces oxygen to the fire triangle before the heat can adequately dissipate.

I'm not suggesting lamp oil due to it not being as toxic, but that's a nice plus too. The safety benefits to lamp oil far outmatch any other fuel which should make it your fuel of choice. As lamp oil needs to be mixed with air to ignite, blowback and having a towel catch fire are significantly lower. Still carry a wet towel around, but I don't want you to risk scaring that pretty little face.

If I were you I would take a good long look at the MSDS for White Gas and ask yourself if thats really something you want to put in your mouth. Its much more toxic than Ultra-Pure Lamp Oil, not to mention the very low flash point and high burn temperature make it very easy to seriously burn yourself. if the rag you're using to wipe off your face is getting soaked enough to ignite then you need to work on your aspiration because there really shouldn't be that much to wipe. Do yourself a favor and switch to Lamp Oil or you could be looking at some very serious health issues 10 years down the road.
