I worked at CeX and every year they have a festival for their staff with free drinks and they called CeX fest! I miss working there even though its one of the most disorganised places I have ever worked! but they did let us drink on christmas eve! so bonus!

Cex seems to have gone really down hill recently. It's prices have gone up and it's selling and trade in prices are getting very close to the abysmal prices stores like GAME offer you for your old games. It's a common trend with small companies (even though cex was never that small) once they realise how popular they have become they start taking advantage it truly sucks.

The following story is unrelated to the pun in the picture.

I bought an Xbox and Black Ops from CeX once. But the Cod Blops CD had a giant scratch on it and when I got home it wouldn't install. Now, this part is my own fault: I threw the receipt away before I got home (I reaaaally should have kept it), so when I went to return it a few days later, I had trouble getting the disc replaced. I know it's my own fault for not having the receipt, but ffs, the box still had the label on it, it was blatantly bought from CeX, and I only bought it a few days before. It's not like I wanted money for it - I just wanted them to replace the CD. What's worse was that the guy behind the counter immediately said that it was my Xbox's fault: that the disk was burnt because the Xbox was faulty. He didn't realise at the time that I had also bought the Xbox from the same shop, at the same time.

Anyway, to their credit, the manager stepped in and said that if I showed a bank statement with the transaction on it, then he'd agree to exchange it. I got my phone out and went onto my online banking website, showed the transaction on there, and they gave me a replacement CD, which worked fine.

That being said, I definitely wouldn't buy a second hand game from them again. I'm sticking with Amazon - you pay a few quid extra, but at least you know it's from a reputable source.

CEX is a badman shop if only because my local one has a singular metalhead in it and whenever he is alone he fills the shop with deathmetal.
