Apparently its not uncommon for them to use their tails like makeshift umbrellas. Snow and rain aren't exactly the same thing though, so one would hope a squirrels anus is insulated enough to allow for minimum heat dissipation in such a chilly predicament.

I live in New England and I just showed my girlfriend this picture. We have an army of squirrels that come to our window and beg for food which we used to always throw scraps out to.
