A girl once tried to convince me that glitter was her favorite color. I had asked her, in typical fashion, "what's your favorite color little girl?" and she asserted that it was, in fact, glitter. I told her, "Haha cool! But glitter isn't a color you know?" I didn't have the time to enter the details of the visible spectrum and the wave-particle duality of nature, but she maintained that it was a real color and it was her favorite. So I changed my tack, I brought up the point that glitter is a reflective and shiny material that can be colored different ways, hence red glitter and blue glitter - she however ultimately contested that there was no such thing as red or blue glitter, and the simple fact I had recognized these deviations proved her point. What I called red and blue glitter are, to her, actually shades of the color glitter.
