So many times watching this show I had to look away because the things he would say made me uncomfortable. I miss his presence on the show.

When I discovered YouTube, I didn't work for five days. I did nothing. I watched Cookie Monster sing Chocolate Rain about a thousand times.

"Scott's Tots"

God, I've seen every episode of the Office at least 4 or 5 times, I think I watched that one whole once. I saw it again, skipped the whole part of him talking to the class. Those are the times that I'm glad Michael Scott is no longer part of the show. (Don't get me wrong, I love him, but I think the show is just about as good without the major awkwardness of some episodes.)

[–]oldzealand 5 points6 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Same here, but the awkwardness is part of what separates The Office from some of the other shows (some noteworthy favorites of hilarious awkwardness include Michael in "Diwali" and "Phyllis' Wedding"). "Scott's Tots" wasn't as good as an episode overall, and I skip over it entirely when I watch through the seasons.

No no, I get that it needs to be awkward, but sometimes the amount of it is unnecessary. Like Michael talking to Pam's grandmother and being awkward throughout that whole episode. Like it gets to be a little too unbelievable, at least with his character who sometimes shows that he knows how to behave in public, but other times he is worse than a 5 year old.

[–]cuppincayk 2 points3 points ago

Worst parts were when he crawled on the floor. I've looked multiple times on YouTube and can never seem to find a clip of it

[–]hjf11393 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What part is that? The only time I remember him crawling on the floor was to get Pam a coffee as part of his "hidden stairs" bit.

[–]cuppincayk 0 points1 point ago

One of the times that he does it is when he gets rejected by holly

That was the point at which I stopped watching the show. Actually, make that "Goodbye Toby." Everything up to that point: genius. Brilliant. Holy shit, it's my favorite show of all time (with the possible exception of The Simpsons). After Goodbye Toby, it just didn't work for me.

"Would she fit in a boat? It bothers me that you're not answering the question, Phyllis!"

Seriously, just phenomenal.

Ed Helms is still great but no one can fill the role of Michael Scott. Although the chemistry between Andy, Robert, and Jim is damn near perfect. That "Mrs. California" episode had me dying at parts. Especially Jim climbing across the roof to escape Robert.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Very true. It's fun to see the dynamic between these experienced comedic actors. I feel like Dwight just doesn't work as a character without his sycophantic rapport with Michael. Also, everyone else is purposeless. They just haven't been able to get them off the ground, and that's a shame, because there's a lot of talent there (especially Craig Robinson.)

[–]PolarBere 3 points4 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Dwight and Michaels relationship was dying near the end though, it wasn't nearly the chemistry they had in the first five seasons.

[–]hjf11393 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

In my opinion, BJ Novak is one of the best actors in the series, and I love Ryan. I get that he writes it and he could write himself in more, but the little screen time Ryan has is usually amazing.

I especially like "Earth, you don't have to be crazy to live here, but it helps....I don't know, just use whichever one sounds the best"

[–]Jelenfellin9 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Holy shit, there's a new The Office cast? I haven't watched that in forever. I haven't watched T.V. in forever. Except south-park. I love south-park.

Thinking about watching The Office again....

When he proposed to Carol the realtor at Kelly's Diwali celebration. When he kissed Oscar. Oh god, so many more.

It's painful, but in the end it's why I loved that show.

Two words. "Dinner Party". 14 more words. "You have no idea, the physical toll, that three vasectomies have on a man"

I got the exact same feeling watching "Mrs. Robert California." It was such an uncomfortably awesome episode.

[–]jettrscga 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

There were a lot of situations like that in "Coupling" that did it for me. Good show, but at some point the awkward outweighed the funny.

[–]someguyinahat 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The same thing happened to me with Extras. I'm sure it was hilarious, but it made me so uncomfortable at times I had to turn it off.

[–]kawaiipiranha 0 points1 point ago

Oh god when he asked Carol to marry him on their fourth date in front of an entire group of people...

That made my palms sweat.

[–]JonSherwell 0 points1 point ago

I think the void could be somewhat further filled if Robert were utilized more often. I think his character has potential..

[–]el3kt2ik 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I do enjoy Robert as a character but the lack of Michael Scott is a gap that I do not think can be filled. Hopefully they work the Dwight/Jim dynamic.

With you, brotha. Such a brilliant show (until Goodbye Toby, in my opinion). I would await each episode with anticipation, and undoubtedly be crying by the end of each one. It was just that brilliant.

Toby works for HR, so he's not really apart of our family here at Dunder Mifflin. Also, he's divorced, so he's not really part of his family, either.

Anyone else have a major crush on Amy Ryan? Since seeing her in The Office and The Wire, I've always thought she's gorgeous. Hell, even her white-trash Helene McCready role in Gone Baby Gone couldn't change my mind on her.

I'm sure Rashida is a hilarious, charming, and wonderful person, but after her role on the office, I just hate that bitch.

She is very funny, but come on, Pam is clearly the bitch in those relationships in the first seasons. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but she waits until he has a new fucking girlfriend to try to hook up with him? Come on...

My brother brought over season 1 of Lifes Too Short the other day. It has some of the british office awkwardness mixed in with extras. Its not a brilliant show, but its understated and I think its going to roll right into being fantastic as time goes on.

Imagine the office episode mrs robert california, its about on par with that. Cant wait to legitimately buy it on dvd. Warwick Davis is incredibly good. His comedic timing is fantastic. Better than Gervais at times.
