to anyone thinking, man I need to get some of these please consider the following: most hamster live alone in the wild, males do not get along with females and same sex hamsters have no reason to stay together.

robo's live in complex social groups and sort of require company to be happy ... the problem with this is that you cannot replicate the proper social grouping in a home environment ... so you are left with the two contradictory problems:

1) a single robo will suffer psychologically

2) 2+ robo's will eventually fight and have to be separated

people think they are awesome because they are non aggressive towards humans (rare for hamsters) and they tend to cuddle in clumps when they are younger, however given the above I can't really recommend them unless you are comfortable separating them WHEN not if they fight, or if you can play with a single robo many times a day.

it's unfortunate that hamsters are starter pets!

This pic keeps popping up on pinterest, and people say "aww, what a cute owl!". And it drives my wife furious. I don't use pinterest, so naturally I suggested she down vote it every time- but pinterest doesn't have that kind of system. So I introduced her to reddit- where people are punished for their inaccuracies!

This post made us both very happy in that the people of reddit can distinguish mammals from birds.

I used to have gerbils who bread, and I can assure you that is not a baby gerbil. Real baby gerbils look more like pencil erasers than anything.

Once, in daycare, I held a girbil in one hand and a hampster in the other. I wanted them to be friends so I put my hands together. Worst idea. They began rodent wars, which resulted in one of them biting the tip of my finger. I flailed and he hung on for dear life. Eventually he let go and my blood was on the floor. They made me clean it up. I am terrified of both animals.

I raised 3 gerbils from their infancy and I don't think that's a gerbil. It does look like a baby robo.

However I can say, raising 3 baby gerbils was one of the most fun pet experiences I have had, they are so fucking cute and curious about everything. I've only got one left now (they were getting quite old for gerbils) but I will always remember them.

What you don't want to mess with is a baby mole. I was at a friends house after sleeping over, my senior year of high school. Apparently my two friends beat me up, and had caught a baby mole. And placed it in my shoe. So of course, I had to pick it up for myself.

Don't let it's cuteness fool you. Even at only days old, it's two front teeth are long|sharp enough, and it's jaw strong enough, that it'll bite you straight to the bone. And it freakin hurts.
