My roommate and I had a 2 year old pangasius that was around 16 inches, and after months of leaving my hand in the water for 15-20 minutes he would eat algae wafers out of my hands and I'd rub his side. As a side note, those maximum growth charts on the tanks in stores are filthy fucking fibbers, Pangasius Catfish max length 10 inches. LIES.

That's sort of terrifying (the size thing) this one is at least 2 years old, but he is only a couple of inches long.

I have two catfish, but im not sure of the varieties as the fish store had one labelled as a shark :). The 6 year old one is only 7 inches, but my three year old is 11 inches and still growing. So confusing... :)

Pangasius maximum length is dependent on species, the most common species of Pangasius (P. gigas) is a food fish that can easily reach more than 9' in length. The most common in the aquarium trade however is the Iridescent shark (P. hypophthalmus), and this is also quite large, growing to 4' in length, and weighing upwards of 90+ lbs.

All Pangasius are giants among catfish, and none are suitable for the home aquarium. Sadly many pet shops keep offering them for sale.

What kind of catfish is that? I have one that looks similar in my tank that I got off craig's list, but it's not the breed the dude thinks it was. I haven't been able to identify it yet.

Haha, I have no idea. Some of their old renters left a nasty old fish tank in the house when they moved out, unplugged, filter turned off and everything. A few weeks later when we were cleaning out the house my little brother realized there was a LIVE fish in there! He cleaned the tank and now the fish has some buddies and has been happily living at my parent's house. Mystery fish!

I actually just found it. Looks like it's a bumblebee catfish. Found it in a random list of species. Cool beans.

Awesome, I will let them know! Since one of the other fishes is named Optimus Prime, Bumblebee seems to be a fitting name/species for this one...

Definitely. I had one years ago. They are very entertaining. They like to have a lot of cover during the day, usually... but if you watch the tank at night when the lights are off, they will show off some AMAZING dance moves!

So, if you haven't already, watch them at night when they are in near complete darkness!

That's how I found the upside-down catfish that I've had for almost 10 years. It was in 3 inches of water in 100˚ weather for at least a week.
