Because you don't read Twilight in class.

Just because the video was so short that it ended before she got up doesn't mean she doesn't give a shit. I would be shocked if I saw that happening IRL and would need a couple of seconds of rationalizing.

You know what? Good. It's just a PR ploy to try and work in damage control. GoDaddy has no valid points on a bad law that will kill whole sections of an industry that the entire world relies on. Fuck 'em.

I don't recall people being so angry when it was Nintendo saying the same stuff.

help write SOPA

That's a lie, and either you know it and still repeat it or don't know enough to be saying it in the first place.

And yet Nintendo, along with everyone with a financial stake in original digital content, are also for it.

So disdain is only reserved for GoDaddy for some silly reason?

When was the last time GoDaddy made Super Smash Bros?

Well you hit that nail right on the head, haha.

Nintendo does not make Super Smash Bros. Well, they technically do since it is a 2nd Party that makes it, but that is like saying that Microsoft made Halo when it was actually Bungie that made it.

Super Smash Bros is actually made by a company named HAL Laboritories who are also responsible for titles such as a ton of Kirby games, a bunch of games on the MSX and even a few games on the C-64.

I am just saying that even though HL is now a subsidiary of Nintendo, that does not mean we should drop credit right to Nintendo for the fun game. Well, Mirimax (up until 2010) was owned by Disney, but during that 17 year span we still got movies like Pulp Fiction. Even though Disney technically put out Pulp Fiction, it was still a Mirimax movie and Disney did not make the movie, they just happened to own the company that made the movie.

In the same terms, Nintendo did not make Super Smash Bros, the company it owned, HAL Laboratories, made it.

I hate to be that guy, but many games that people just assume are 1st party Nintendo games because Mario's face are on there are very close to the same people in the late 80's, early 90's that called all controllers paddles because a variation of an Atari 2600 controller was a paddle controller, or the people that would call the Genesis a Sega completing ignoring the fact that Sega is the name of the company that put the system out, or people calling all disc-based systems Playstation.

Mario Party was not done by Nintendo (it was done by Hudson), Mario and Sonic at the Olympics was not done by Nintendo (that was actually done by Sega).

Think of Nintendo like Disney in the Mirimax example I gave. While Nintendo was technically behind Super Smash Bros, they did NOT make it.

Sorry, I am too big of a nerd sometimes. It's all good, I threw you an upvote anyway since I did get a chuckle, it is just that I am a game collector and do stuff with thousands of games almost daily (not bragging, informing), so people saying the wrong developer is a pet peeve of mine.

I tried to not come off as a dick about it, and if I did, sorry, and I will delete that post for being a dick since I was not trying to. I was just throwing out some knowledge

Haha no it didn't come off that way don't worry. I also thought it would be funny to respond to your comment with a very short reply. So I was being a dick. No worries.

It isn't? I thought everyone was pissed about any SOPA support? GoDaddy is being singled out for other reasons, i.e. exempting themselves from the bill in many ways and other face-saving bullshit.

[–]Hesperus 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Again, that exemption applies to all registrars.

People have a short attention span, a poor grasp of the details, and a desire to exclude in order to feel included. That's why they single out a company whose ads they remember.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

So? This is basically like saying "Hey, do you wanna avoid SOPA? Okay so join GoDaddy".

[–]Hesperus -1 points0 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

What in the world are you trying to say?

[–]LBK2013 -3 points-2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

Go Daddy is specifically mentioned in an amendment to the bill that they are exempt from its provisions. Seems like maybe they helped to write the damn thing.

[–]Hesperus 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

That exclusion applies to all registrars, only mentioning GoDaddy because it is the largest. Way to not even read the intro of the AMA in question.

Even if that weren't the case, a mention means you assume someone is a co-author? If so, Bill Murray helped me write this, and if you ask me real nice he'll go over to your house and hang out for a while.

I missed that AMA and cannot find a link. Anyone have a link?

[–]writesomethingwitty 1 point2 points ago

It was posted here an hour before your post.

So this poor man is sad because his PR attempt didn't work? Cry me a river.

[–]InsertOneLiner 2 points3 points ago

I read that AMA for about ten minutes and couldn't find the guy saying anything of significance except "Yeah me and the other guys that work there are totally bummed that GoDaddy supports SOPA. But Bob Parsons is a really nice guy in real life!" Like, every fucking response. I get upset just thinking that any Redditor might actually be convinced by this shit.

I went and took a look, I only see a bunch of redditors being super hopped up on themselves and the employee laying down obvious, common sense statements.

He's also not representing their stance on anything.
