    That's exactly what it is. Armadillo lizards will curl up like an armadillo (obviously eh?) when they feel threatened. It's pretty cute but displays like this are used to sell them in the pet trade unfortunately. The worst case I've seen is pet stores purposely pissing off Frilled Dragons so that people will think they are cool and buy them. Absolutely horrible :(

    It pisses me off because any smart person can see that animal is obviously agitated. I would get shouty at someone intentionally annoying an animal to make some asshole think it's cool and buy it. And those are the people that shouldn't be getting pets. Also, those people shouldn't be selling them like that in the first place.

    It's a vicious cycle. People wanting some "tough and flashy" animal and then when they get it home realize the amount of effort required to deal with an animal that has been constantly poked at and annoyed every single day. Then that animal gets neglected and you know where that leads.

    Seriously, when you keep an animal you are literally caring for a life. The very well-being lies in your hands. I don't understand how people can not want the absolute best for their animals.

    It's pretty simple and you answered your question. They don't understand responsibility because it was never taught to them.

    I learned responsibility in grade one when our whole class had an incubator and we would take turns caring for the eggs until they hatched. That was an experience! I don't believe they teach that in schools anymore and parent's don't teach their kids that either because they're too busy or just don't know how too.

    I think anyone that wants to have a pet, should be tested by taking care of a plant. If they can take care of a plant and help it grow, then they can take care of an animal.

        I used to help him wedge rocks open with a crowbar and snare them.

        if you are all wondering the proper name of this animal that is chorydalus gigeantus ,spiny plated lizard, there are several species of plated lizard that is a baby. they grow to about 2' total and gaze at the sun mid day, thus the normal name of "sun gazer" is what they are typically known as . they produce 1 live offspring per year and are extremely expensive in the reptile trade, if you can find them , a male goes for around $1300.00 usd.
