Muhammad Ali is actually telling Sonny Liston to get up in this picture, because he thought he was taking a dive, not to stay down..................

Actually, if you want to really nitpick it. He was yelling for him to get up, because nobody would believe he got KO'd by that. Not entirely accusing him of taking a dive, here's a SLOW-MO video of the punch that led to that: Ali's Phantom Punch

It's known as the "Phantom Punch", and a lot of people that watched the fight live would tell you they really didn't see this punch at all. That's how fast Ali was.

Funny thing about this photo - It only lasted for a second or so. Ali actually stood over Liston for about a second or two before the ref shooed him away. This was a very controversial fight because of the "phantom punch" and other things.

Came here to post this. There was a documentary on HBO (I think) about the greatest sports photographs, of course including this one. If you see the film of this fight/aftermath, Ali is bouncing around, gesturing for Liston to get up, waving his arms, etc. This photo was like a one in a million shot, because Ali was in this pose for about a half a second.

Also, the bald guy with glasses that you can see between Ali's legs was the senior photographer for Sports Illustrated at the time. All the other fight photographers were crowding around that side of the ring (you can see them to the right of the bald guy), and Neil Leifer, the junior SI photographer who took this photo, had to go to the other side of the ring because there was no more room with the other guys. And BOOM, he gets this shot. Incredible!

It's not a meme is what I am saying. As soon as someone can reuse this picture with different text and has a niche theme, that's when it can fit into advice animals. Otherwise, this can go into r/pics or other place.
