Private Johnson: They're doing well, captain. It looks like we truly can stay on this island for a long time. Looks like the ant invasion was a failure, since they can't get across water very well on their own.

Suddenly, the door to the conference room is thrown open and a rather distressed man in fatigues enters

posts like this are what make me love reddit. despite being so far down you had hardly any hope of being seen, you still put out the effort and posted a huge paragraph that no one would read most likely.

for those that do read it though, they get a delightful treat, a slight smirk may appear on their faces and they may for a brief moment, feel the pull of the void relent, and they may for a moment, feel joy. anyway that is what's giving me hope in the world today.

as you can imagine i'm almost entirely out of hope. i forget where I was going with this so keep up the good work, and try to stop coming in so late on fridays.

but then you begin to notice the mushrooms kicking in... when the fuck did I take mushrooms you begin to wonder. this is not going to end well, you turn to your friend who has the pot and instruct him to roll several dozen joints as you don't know what you're getting into. the sun is coming up in through the living room curtains casing a yellow golden hue over the surrounding environment. your friend lights up a joint and passes it, pleased with his rolling technique. you take the joint and inhale depely, noting that your body is beginning to buzz and pulsate, building in succession, each wave more intense than the last. you can't help but wonder, how much did I take? is this going to be the end of me? I haven't slept in like 28 hours, maybe I'll just pass out and sleep through it all....

just then you notice that you've smoked the whole joint in one long continuous inhalation, you exhale a massive cloud of smoke and realize you. are. fucked.

"holy shit man, I am fucking FEELING this shit now." your friend replies that he feels the same, adding that he can see distortion fractals in the air floating beside you. just then you remember holy fuck man, your in someones house right now, this is not your place, or your friends.

"hey man, whos house is this?" you ponder aloud to the room. someone pipes up that it's jeff's. you don't know any jeffs that you can remeber offhand, but oh well jeff had a crazy party, hopefully hes cool with people tripping the day after.

i dont realy know where this was going. this one time I tripped balls after a party i guess. there ya go....

A freaking studio. I would be impressed and shocked otherwise. I would think the ant is most likely dead, posed, and glued to the moss carefully, shot with a macro lens on rails and everything lit properly while the moss is carefully positioned to cause the effect.

  1. Gather some ants
  2. Put them on some moss, place moss in shallow water
  3. Use DSLR camera with macro lens, aim and focus at edge of moss
  4. Wait for an ant to wander to the edge, take photo with large aperture

There's a bit more to it than that, but it shouldn't be terribly difficult. This shot was pulled off very well.
