Looking for an image subreddit with minimal rules? Check out /r/images

A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

I thought most zoos had "do not bang on glass" signs everywhere. It seems that the gorilla is a better mother.

And she didn't even have to put a leash on her baby.

At least one mama knows, how to teach their kids some manners.

Kids having manners when they're playing with each other? I don't think kids follow such a code.

So what does it say that the mother gorilla got her child in line before the human mother (assuming she did at all)?

Maybe I smoke too much weed but..

Mama gorilla hates her life. She lives in a prison. She was probably born there, always hearing stories from her parents of their lives before they were 'rescued'. In her parents eyes, they were taken by these 'guardian ancestors' from the wild to preserve them and allow them to live a life where the stress of being prey 24/7 was no longer a harsh reality. But deep down, she knows better. She sees things for what they really are. She is but a mere freak for these so called 'ancestors' to gawk at, keeping her alive just for the sick pleasure of being able to. She knows she is helpless in this sad, small, broken world. She knows that no matter how hard she tries, she and her parents were doomed to a life of misery, without freedom, only uncrossable borders. After many years, this realisation's effects weakened, and she began to accept that this was the only way.

She would make the best of it.

Many years pass, her parents have died, and she sleeps alone in her cage. When she awakens the next morning, she discovers another gorilla is there. A male gorilla. After a bit of hesitation, the two finally communicate and fall deep in love.

This was it. Her happiness. Her freedom. To be loved. To love.

They marry and have a child.

Together they grow. Each and every day she grows happier, living in a cave with her mate and her child. Every now and then, the child would leave the cave to go 'out', but only when she and the father were not looking. See, she has very strict rules about going 'out'. 'Out' is where they will see the child. 'Out' is where they will look, point, laugh and gawk at the child. 'Out' is the reminder of her parents. The sadness of their entrapment. Their hardships. Their suffering. Her childhood was a never-ending wonder of what-if. A question that would never be answered because of the gawkers. Her child will not be destoyed as she was. Her child will not be exposed to the truth, for it is too destructive.

This video: "Come, child. These fools deserve no attention."

Never forget.
